Title: Buying Golf R tonight -- need some guidance on MED9 Post by: oldcarguy85 on January 28, 2014, 07:24:54 AM Hey all,
So i'm finally taking the leap and buying a 2013 Golf R (beautiful dark gray metallic 2dr, 6spd, sunroof, nav, leather, everything). I probably won't venture into tuning this thing myself since it's so new (and only 17k miles), but i do want to know more about it in case i want to play around. I have plenty of reading to do, but any initial guidance on MED9 would be awesome. I've become fairly comfortable with ME7, but MED9 is all new to me. I ordered an MPPS clone this morning. Is this the best tool for read/write with MED9? Thanks in advance!! -Jordan Title: Re: Buying Golf R tonight -- need some guidance on MED9 Post by: oldcarguy85 on January 28, 2014, 07:29:50 AM also, if any of the experts on this board have tuned one of these, I'd gladly pay you to tune mine. Much rather give someone here the business then a big name.

The safest and most probably cheapest solution is BDM on MED9. Nice car, have fun! Out of curiosity, why can't MPPS read/write this specific ECU? is there some sort of protection that wasn't in older MED9?
Is there any way at all to read/write this thing over OBD? the thought of pulling the ECU all the time sounds like a nightmare. Also, can you give me some general info on checksums? Will WinOLS be able to correct checksums in this ECU, or is there a different tool available? Sorry for all the simplistic/probably stupid questions. THanks for the help! Some genuine tools do them through OBD just fine. Checksums will either be done by the tools or by WinOLS with the correct plugin. Title: Re: Post by: Shaheenem on February 01, 2014, 01:25:00 PM Mpps can do Golf 6 R. Tested on many. Does not work on edition 35 though
