Title: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ed1380 on February 16, 2014, 12:04:07 PM I'm curious if there's a market for these and what would be a fair price?
OEM connectors. Led on the ECU output to verify that it has power. standard jst power plug This is the one I made for myself. It would be very similar. http://imgur.com/02cXFdT.jpg Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ddillenger on February 16, 2014, 12:27:22 PM Add a bootmode wire!

Post by: ed1380 on February 17, 2014, 02:03:41 AM I don't like a loose wire hanging so I made the boot cable a separate piece. It's just as easy to use but cleans up the look of the main cable.
It's in the FS section of the forum Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: Snow Trooper on February 17, 2014, 09:55:17 AM Looked at your other thread also, needs a switch and its good to go.
Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ed1380 on February 17, 2014, 10:00:18 AM Are you talking about a switch on pin 3? I had one on the cable pictured in this thread and ended up removing it. It didn't help with bootmode. I could connect to the ecu with the switch in either position
Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: Snow Trooper on February 17, 2014, 10:52:57 AM In order for it to be a good seller you will need it as many ECUs have to be powered up and then use the flick of the switch to simulate ignition and get in and out of boot mode.
It looks well made, I already have one like it but would buy another for backup at your price as i am sure many people would. Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: nyet on February 17, 2014, 11:04:24 AM Agreed. Just needs a switch, and i'd probably buy one as a backup as well.
Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ddillenger on February 17, 2014, 11:06:43 AM Also, consider adding a DB9 serial connector inline. This will ensure you can expand on it for other ecus!
Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ed1380 on February 17, 2014, 11:48:40 AM Thank you for the feedback and constructive criticism
Ive tried it with a mkiv and A6 ecu. What else is ME7.5? I'm just surprised that mine worked without a switched power supply. A db9 and cluster version are in the works. Waiting on parts Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: Lost on February 17, 2014, 02:24:58 PM I will buy one with boot mode cable and ign swich.
Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ed1380 on February 18, 2014, 12:53:08 AM When you guys say boot mode cable, do you want something that's permanently attached to the bench cable or the alligator clip that's with it now?
I don't want to start a new thread so I'll put this here. It needs a bit more testing, but I'm so excited I have to share it now :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxTz1bw_ZkE Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ddillenger on February 18, 2014, 01:24:13 AM Mine is just a ground wire attached to the harness. I tinned the end of it and it has a sleeve you can slide over it for insulation when not in use.

I tinned the end of it and it has a sleeve you can slide over it for insulation when not in use. That's what I did, sans the sleeve. Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? I could connect to the ecu with the switch in either position I dont need swich either to connect to 551K, but if i would have one it seem to me, it would be on pin 62. Pin 3 is main power, u want to simulate ignition. Am i right or wrong? Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables? Post by: ed1380 on February 20, 2014, 10:41:31 AM You got it backwards :)
Pin 3 is switched. pin 62 is constant. http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=59.msg114#msg114 Title: Re: Is there a demand for bench cables?
