Title: n0906018k 01 TT security access not supported.
Post by: em.Euro.R18 on March 01, 2014, 12:22:44 PM
Trying to pull a bin from this TT but every time I run the full read flash it pauses at negotiating communication timings.  Original owner claimed it was stock ecu. Not sure how I'll pull the bin. Any ideas ? 2001 using 29f800 memory layout. Tryed BB and it didn't connect.

First, that is a 29F400BB narrowband TT. It should still read, but doubled.

Second, narrowband TT's are a real PITA to read in car.

Shortly after posting that I read through multiple threads posted on the same issue. Looks like I got a nightmare ahead of me. If that layout doesn't work I'll have to try an in car boot mode if possible. Wasn't aware some 225's came narrowband... Good to know thanks again !

Nefmoto works well on the bench with that ecu, just not really in car...

Hmm that's unfortunate problem being this particular car the guy uses as a daily and cannot afford to have it down specially if I have to go in again and edit the file if I encounter any problems. Looks like I'll have to use a third party approach either gonzo or maestro.

225 TT's engine code APX are narrow band .
genuine MPPS works realy well on these ECU .
juste need to remove the dashbord fuse .

The easy way of dealing with your issue is to d/l the 95040.bin, edit the file to turn immo off (and provide the owner of the car with his SKC), fix the checksum, flash the edited file back in boot mode. This is what I did with my tuned 018K from my totaled '01 TT 225 so I could use it in my replacement early '01 TT 225 that has no immo from the factory. Now I can read and flash the 018K via OBD without issue. Once you get everything set the way you like, reflash the original 95040.bin to the ECU and immo is restored.

regarding MPPS (original I don`t know about the clone) , you can always "Force" read/write without the need to remove any fuse :)

Security access not supported is irrelevant. Lower your communication timings!

Yep!  When lower baud rate to 38400 it read and wrote no issues.  One thing I had to watch out for was after nefmoto connects, it reverts the baud rate back to default.  Before I read and write the file, I verify the baud rate selected.

I'm going to go ahead and say, always use 38400. For everything. That's what I do. Sure, you may be able to do it faster, but we're talking 1 minute for much more reliable flashing.

Good advice, thank you!
