Title: What to use
Post by: circa.1741 on March 29, 2014, 12:43:21 PM
Here goes my newbie first post...

I was reading the NefMoto Wiki when I chanced upon "backup your EEprom using ArgDub's tool."

I started reading the "ME7_95040 - EEPROM programmer" topic and saw these posts:
- "Any idea if this will work on edc15 ecu's ?"
- "from a quick search on the internet, the edc15 uses a 24C04 eeprom. So, it won't work without rewriting the eeprom driver. It can be done but I don't have a edc15 to debug the code."

I have a 2005 VW Jetta TDI Wagon with an EDC16U31 ECU--I think.

So, I am assuming that I should use the NefMoto software instead to backup my
EEprom.  Am I correct?

Thanks

Whoa!

Is the NefMoto software only for ME7 ECUs only?

If so, what are my options for making a backup of my EEprom?

Thanks

EDC16 EEPROM reads by BDM (You can make full backup of Flash, EEPROM and processor by BDM).
Nefmoto software is just for ME7 ecus.

I certainly have so much to learn.

Thank you so much Ionut!
