Title: Enable DTC but disable CEL - 03 vs 01 ?
Post by: elRey on May 04, 2014, 10:01:09 AM
Hello,

I want to maintain DTC but prevent it from throw CEL/MIL.
Is it has simple as only have the first bit set and leave second bit zero in faultclass?

Specfically, I want misfires (all, even per cyl) DTCs to be enabled, but don't want them turning on CEL.

Thanks,
Rey

I'm not sure you can do that. The misfires have a different routine entirely for flashing the CEL if the threshold is reached. I don't think error classing will be sufficient.

I don't mind the flashing CEL when actively misfiring. It's the presistent CEL due to stored misfire DTCs I'm trying to address.

Can I ask why you're willing to live with misfires and just hide the symptoms? Deka's at idle?

Nail on the head.  More specifically - right off idle. torque reserve handled idle, but any throttle (B_ll = false) and torque reserve is turned off. e.g. where KFMRESNL does not apply. Want to avoid a high temin to acheive 14.7

Also, dealing with a particularly bad set of 870s that vary quite a bit from one to the other.

Any reason not to just modify NMIALU/MIDLU to be right above idle?

Just curious :P
