I've been using the MTXElectronics checksum corrector plugin for tunerpro. 

ME7Check fails on my files with:

RSA signature failure found
-> Found 1 error!!!   *******************************

rsa: signature too large for modulus

Today, halfway through an auto-x event, my car wouldn't start.  I scanned it with vag-com and got:

16985 - Internal Control Module
            P0601 - 35-00 - Memory Check Sum Error

I've been running this flash for almost two weeks now and it took that long, even as a daily driver, to finally lock me out.  Luckily I had my other ecu with me, so it was no big deal.  This is the second time this has happened now.  the first time I thought it was a fluke.  So I guess this checksum plugin won't work for me, or am I doing something wrong?  Any others have this issue?  Gotta bootmode eeprom flash this ecu back to life again.. :(

What ECU and software are you using here? What maximum load are you hitting in your tune?

Could it be an actual checksum validation issue, meaning bad memory hardware, or the car got shocked or something else to trigger the fault. I mean the point of the checksum is to validate the coding that flies back and forh throught the memory/processor to catch problems.

032PL software, I'll have to look at home what ecu I am using, but it's from an 04 passat.  190ish for max load.

Edit:  it's not from a 04 passat, it's from a MKIV.  032HF.

Any more ideas on this?  It's kinda hampering my tuning efforts as I don't want to be driving around a car that might randomly not start for me.   ???

I just had this happen with my 04 passat with the DQ ecu. I sent an email to MTX with a copy of my bin. The checksum plugin says its compatible, but maybe theres something it misses.

I hate to say it, but the ONLY reliable checksum software is ecufix by Andy Whitaker. Even winOLS has this problem with custom code :(

so you are using mk4 software on your awm passat?!?...
i have had issues with ecu fix before in the past... i run threw ecu fix then load into winols and export to be safe

no, I am using PL software on my MKIV jetta on an HL?HF? ecu out of a passat.  If that's not compatible, I blame double d.  ;)

I have used early model awm ecus with mk4 software w/o any issue but I know that they changed in 03ish? Not sure exactly when but I know they did

hmm what is the exact ecu #? because a 032hf is from a auto 1.8t jetta / golf and would be 100% fine

I run 032RN in every wideband mk4 fwiw.

Yeah, but nefmoto hates RN files. I get the programming incomplete DTC.  I would go with an RN, as that's the original software for the jetta otherwise

I will report the ecu # when I get home.  I traded for this ecu and was told it came out of a 04 1.8t passat and would work with a PL file just fine.

I was going to send you the passat one, Sent you a mk4 instead. I am 100 percent sure it is compatible with the software you are running.

Hey dd, will CW_NOROMCHKRESET set as 1 turn off checksums and make it so the custom code is "safe"?

No. If you were going to use that it would be set to 55. I think it's NOP'd in production files. Even testmode will leave you stranded eventually.

What do you mean by NOP'd? "replace with code that does nothing"? I couldn't really find a definition.

Where do I read about testmode?

My understanding is that CW_NOROMCHECKRESET is disabled on production files and cannot be used.

Just to follow up on this, I sent MTX an email today with my bin with the RSA checksum error using the MTX plugin, a file with correct checksums from winols, and an original file.  Files are attached here for reference.

Hopefully he'll look into fixing it.

It would be REALLY nice if somebody could help me add this stuff to ME7Sum :)

I would certainly like to try.  I might need some guidance to get started.  I've taken a look at the ME7Sum source code.

Would you mind telling me which WinOLS version are you using? If it is current (so not cracked) maybe you should work your issues with EVC?

Received a clone of MPPS today in the mail to see if the checksum correction in there worked for me... Nope... RSA signature error.  I guess the only one that will work for my file is winols.   :'(
