As the topic states, have a friend who has a fried 8E0909518BA ecu, local scrapyards dont have that 8E0909518BA ecu so need to know if any other 8E0909518 ecus would work? Looking at another 8E0909518BA ori it matches 61% to 8E0909518AK in winols. My recomendation - use much newer SW version if possible

IMHO you should always use ECU hardware/software closest to your engine specification so in most cases same as stock one. It will not work on 518F, or 518G.
