Title: ALMOST HAD IT FIXED!!after more THAN SIX LONG MONTHS!!
Post by: bigchalk on June 20, 2014, 12:21:54 PM
well after more THAN SIX LONG MONTHS!! i finaly got the jetta to start. i had an immo issue sine i didnt get a key with car. so after buying vcds and vag kkl cable then buying two vag tacho cables and finding and downloading more versions of programs and reading more blogs than i care to remeber i finaly got the car fired up.

I got a matching key and cluster from wrecking yard then using tacho i copied new cluster and then in stalled that on old cluster and then reprogramed the keys ( two i got from ebay) worked like a charm intill i went to shut down pc and go in for breakfest. and thats when everything went  haywire. Fan was pegged on high, odomoter was all jacked up and of course immo back on. tried to rewrite the good file from new cluster but nothing changed. the only thing i can do now is to rewrite the original file and then its back to square one.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE!!!! HELP?!!

I have few questions:
 - what car exactly are we talking about?
 - which engine does that car have?
 - can you provide original and replacement instrument clusters part numbers?
 - which instrument cluster do you have installed (originial/replacement)?
 - what exactly have you flashed to your original clustuer?

It is a 2003 jetta gli 2.8 6 speed manual.
new. vdo 1 911 220 556b vw 1jo 920 906j
old. vdo 1 911 221 430b   vw 1j0 920 900j

Original cluster is installed.
I installed the new cluster copied the eeprom to the computer. i then reinstalled the original cluster and installed the bin file from the new cluster to the original cluster. this worked and allowed me to program all keys and everything worked. when i closed out tacho and started to shut down the pc. it went haywire. i have been able to get back to the original bin file and basically back to where i started from. it seems like that now when i try to install bin file from new cluster as i did before it is only taking half the programing. everything looks right, the ss# pin code changes all that, but when i try to program keys it wants the other pincode and wont work.

I would use your old cluster with its dump (if you have a copy) and extract its PIN so you can adapt the keys (as ECU should be already sync'ed).

EDIT: BTW your "old" cluster is not proper for that car as it was used only up to MY2000 (changed during MY2000)! I am not sure but I think it is IMMO2 cluster while your new cluster is for sure IMMO3. If your car is MY2003 it should be IMMO3 based so the old cluster is not compatible with it (maybe someone was trying to fix immobilizer issues in the past?)... If this is true you should use new cluster with its dump and use "replace ECU" procedure.
