Title: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 07, 2014, 07:42:00 PM With help from members I was able to flash my 95040.bin file with an immo off file to my ecu.
I then turned off and restarted the ecu to try to pull my flash file with nefmoto. Select kwp2000 flashing, For flash file I used the same bin I just installed on the ecu from its saved directory. For mem layout I used 29f400bb and I selected full read flash. I then got. Immo not authenticated error and I chose to proceed anyway, Then security access is rejected and it fails to read flash. Any thoughts or help is gratefully appreciated. Thanks. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on July 07, 2014, 08:10:34 PM You trying to do it in car, or on the bench? Apparently the ME7.5 need pin 121 powered as well to do bench reading/writing.
Also, ctrl+ prt sc is much better. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: turboat on July 08, 2014, 03:12:24 AM I would guess that your immo off didnt work, or you may have flashed your original eeprom back onto the ecu, not the immo-off version. Maybe post your eeprom so we can take a look?
Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 08, 2014, 07:26:15 AM Thanks for the replies. I will check if I reloaded the same eeprom image when I get home from work today.
http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=6342.0title= (http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=6342.0title=) Above is the thread with the original and edited eeprom from another member, Marty. As for how I'm doing this, it's on the bench still. I used the ecu pins 21, 3, and 62 for 12 vdc. 1, and 2 grounded together and to power supply, 43 for k line comm. I have not tried connecting to 121 on the other bank as yet. Looking at my original and the reworked bin, it seems that items were switched from 01 to 02 @ 12, and 22, with resulting changes in checksum. I thought you switched from 01 to 00 from my initial reading. That's just comparing them on my work pc with a hex editor. Thanks again gentlemen. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 08, 2014, 07:28:27 PM So yes, I am an idiot.
I did reload my original bin last night. Second time was the charm and I have successfully loaded Marty's immo off bin. Now when I reboot the ecu on the bench and try to then restart and use nefmoto to flash I receive " ECU reports that security access request was rejected" Then it says "disconnecting because no response was received from tester present message" And then it disconnects. That was with mem layout 29f800dd. I also tried 400bb also without success. Cable verifies in dumb mode and I am in slow init because fast init doesn't work. Thanks for any suggestions. Regards. Mike. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: turboat on July 09, 2014, 12:25:50 AM Have you got pin 121 powered up? Fixed the tester not present error for me. Is it a 512 or 1024k ecu? That will decide your memory layout, see dd's stickied post.
I have been getting some probs trying to read an ARZ 512k ecu, get the tester not present error when I select a 400 layout, but reading fine (slowly) when I select a 800 layout - more testing needed. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 09, 2014, 06:02:40 AM Pin 121 is still not jumped. I need another micro pin connector. Used up all the ones I had handy.
Will give it another kick at the can tonight. To re-identify the VIN to match the new car, that's from within the eeprom too I believe. Anyone know which lines I need to get to to edit? Would be cool if the car shows up as a 1990 on the clean air print out when they connect the obd2 connector. My goal, to have the car pass emissions using the newer plug and idle testing instead of on the wheels running tests. For that, I will need to eliminate, edit out all the codes I expect to see. The SAI, Evap, and anti slip stuff are the basic settings I will need to amend. Thanks again for the feedback, and assistance. IC is just about plumbed in and the wiring is all done, save the ECU placement. Could be running this weekend!!! ;D Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: turboat on July 09, 2014, 12:38:34 PM Hmm, dont think immo2 does store the vin in the eeprom, grab yourself a free hex editor and look at it, in the righthand pane of most hex editors it shows you an ascii decode of the hex, so you should see the vin if its there.
Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 09, 2014, 08:48:27 PM Success!!!
I have successfully used nefmoto to flash read my me7.5. The final missing step was the 121 power connection. Made all my connections, all power from one switched source, all grounds ganged together, flipped my switch, dongle glowed blue, ran NMoto software in slow init as fast wouldnt connect. .. and voila. The below attachment. I offer it up for your viewing pleasure but hesitate to put it in the stock bin file as I don't believe the car was stock anymore when I received it.The car just flew but I dont know how to validate what's changed in the flash, or even how to really use it now that I have it. I loaded tuner Pro, but without an xdf file nothing really happens, and I dont know how to proceed. I want to eliminate SAI, Evap, ASR anti slip codes in my program as the Corrado doesnt have those and I deleted the SAI pump and evap blue fender ball but want to keep the diverter(n249) and most everything else on the 1.8t. Thanks for any and all help gents, in both my bin, and my own education. Obviously now that I have my feet wet, I want to play with my settings and optimize the new set up. Lighter car, different gear ratio, and all the rest. Cheers. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on July 09, 2014, 10:00:53 PM Congrats!
That is not stock. Here is your original file: Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 10, 2014, 07:55:07 AM Thanks for the review of the file DD.
I expected as much. Now I'm trying to learn how to read, understand, and ultimately manipulate the tune. I intended to just start with this tune as it ran so well in the Wolfsberg, and expected it to do the same in the Corrado. Fun stuff here. Feel like I have a long way to go though. No ideas yet how to find the right lines to edit, but this site is awesome for this info. Thanks. Title: Re: Trying to read my flash file. Me7.5 ecu. Post by: mikeb52 on July 10, 2014, 07:02:13 PM Im envious as to how quickly you were able to determine that it wasnt stock. I hope to learn enough to determine what's changed, why, and if the original was better in my lighter car for any reasons.
Ive ordered a book on turbo tuning as recommended by Tony, Turbo: Real World High-Performance Turbocharger Systems, and will hopefully gain better insights as time goes on. Will the SAI, or evap codes put the car into any limp conditions or affect driving? Cause if thats not the case I can start this car up sooner than later and tweak the program as I go. Appreciate the help, ongoingly.. ;D |
