Title: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 11:43:10 AM I am new to logging and in need of advice. My fear is that I have a boost leak internal to my engine, possibly valve seals? What can I monitor that might give me clues to where my leak is located, internal, external, valve seals, head gasket?
I am looking for a leak because I keep getting 'misfire: too rich -bank 1 (Mult)' codes that I cannot get rid of. This is the only engine code that has plagued me and I've had it reoccuring for the last two years I've owned the car. I have tested and found many leaks (old car 137k) however nothing so far has gotten rid of the code. I recently flashed stock bin to my ECU to avoid the possibility that my Uni tune could be complicating the issue. I also have TT225 injectors but I haven't heard of this result just from having these on the car and they've always been there since I've owned the car. I've been leak testing using a compressor, feeling around and used soapy water. Currently my major leaks were the crankcase breather, oil cap and dipstick tube, all post intake leaks so they can be ignored yes? I have reinforced the crankcase breather and oil cap so these should be fine though I haven't leak tested after replacing gaskets. I have current VCDS and NefMoto available to me for logging. What care we talking about did you properly calibrate the new injectors to your car ? I usually fix any leak no matter where it is just me If you need help logging i can help Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 12:09:57 PM Sorry 2003 Audi A4 1.8TQ 5MT. I have zero tuning on the car. Bone stock latest version flash.
Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: vdubnation on July 15, 2014, 12:15:43 PM the car is going to run like total garbage with tt injectors on a stock map
Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 12:19:10 PM I had a Uni 2+ tune on the car before with the same results, that and I had read that since the TT225 injectors flowed only slightly more than stock (345 vs 400??) that the ECU could accommodate it.
Is there an easy way to edit injector size (via VCDS?) or will I have to edit the EEPROM to accomplish this? Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: vdubnation on July 15, 2014, 12:34:41 PM post your stock file i ll help
Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 12:42:00 PM Awesome, one more thing to check off ;)
I have the files at home, I'll post them up in a couple hours. Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: ddillenger on July 15, 2014, 12:44:12 PM If they are commercial, please do not post them. You added 40 percent more fuel and are wondering why you are getting rich codes? The ecu can correct up to 25 percent in either direction, but you will start getting codes at 10 percent. Once you go full retard you're in limp mode.

OMG http://youtu.be/oAKG-kbKeIo (http://youtu.be/oAKG-kbKeIo) Thanks for the info, I have flashed back to stock with your help so I won't be posting anything that isn't already up here in one form or another (no uni tune)... Though I did have Uni before and still had 'rich' codes. BTW flashing back to stock tune fixed my SAI pump issue, that was the first of my two major issues down for the count :D Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 02:10:27 PM Alright, attached are the stock flash bin and the EEPROM contents I dumped using ME7_95040 which should be different from what is flashed in the stock file since ddillenger helped me immo defeat.
Let me know if there's anything else needed. Let me know if there's anything else needed. Flash this post screen shots of blocks 31,32,33 after 30 min of driving. All i changed was krkte, temin, kvb you will still need to find tune fkkvs & KFKHFM Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 03:10:33 PM Alright, I'm so lost, I was kind of hoping for a .bin I could just flash. Installed WinOLS then opened the file, I got two notifications about not finding checksums I'm hoping I can just ignore, then I was asked which properties I wanted applied (The top two couldn't be selected together, selecting the unchecked one would uncheck the one above it) so I left it as pictured and saved. Then I got asked to fill in a bunch of metadata nonsense (i'm hoping) and so I just skipped that.
Now that I have the file open I can't find any option to flash the file. Is this a bin file in disguise that I can flash with NefMoto? Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: vdubnation on July 15, 2014, 03:45:00 PM the file i posted above has been modified for you all you need to do is flash it and report back with trims
open nefmoto or mpps and flash it ;D Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 15, 2014, 04:38:21 PM Aaaaaaaaaalright! 8)
Flash complete and successful however I am in for the night so I will do a log on the commute to work tomorrow morning and get back to you. Thaaaaaaanks! Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: vdubnation on July 15, 2014, 04:40:28 PM No crazy log just a screen shot of 31 32 33 after idleing and a short drive.
Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 16, 2014, 05:41:26 AM 33 Lambda Control Bank 1 Sensor 1 will jump from 0 to -3 sometimes as high as -6 but always swinging back to 0 within a second or two. The rest were stable at idle after a 20 minute drive to work and a short pull on the highway ;)
Let me know what you think. Thanks as always! Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: vdubnation on July 16, 2014, 11:20:27 AM try this file clear codes do light driving for 20 min and post screen shot again
Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: jogtx16v on July 16, 2014, 12:57:30 PM I've been leak testing using a compressor, feeling around and used soapy water. Currently my major leaks were the crankcase breather, oil cap and dipstick tube You don't want to pressuring the crankcase, did you make boost leak test with the oil cap on ? always remove the oil cap and block the crankcase hose. you risk to pop oil seal or other thing Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 16, 2014, 02:33:31 PM As before 33 Lambda control swings between -4 max but mostly goes from -2 to +2
TY as always Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: vdubnation on July 16, 2014, 02:37:39 PM i believe your safe now you shouldn't throw any rich codes and you ll run safe
Title: Re: logs for leak testing, help Post by: stolenheartdealer on July 16, 2014, 02:49:27 PM THAAAAAANKS
and btw yes I was plugging up everything and getting agressive with my leak testing, normally I would disconnected the PRV hose, plugged the TIP up, though I've never taken off the oil cap Seems I've been chasing a ghost, funny because I've posted a couple threads and have thrown the TT injectors out there as a possibility and maybe it's because I had a UNI tune then that everyone dismissed the possibility. |
