Title: Need Netmoto help
Post by: toms73novass on July 21, 2014, 12:20:56 PM
I have been reading alot, but need some help.  I don't know if there is a step by step on using Netmoto....

I am trying to read my .bin from my car.  I am able to connect via my ross-tech cable in dumb mode.  However when I read ecu info all I get is a few lines of information.

Should I be on the flashing tab even though I just want to read the bin in the car?

If so do I name the flash file eventhough it says choose flash file, and what about memory layout?

Don't want to screw up my stock tune..want to back it up....

How do I tell what "box" I have?

Trying to lean all this info....

What I do know is that I have a 2001 Allroad ecu 4z7907551k  with 2.7t auto(tip)

help much appreciated.

Yes you need to be on the flashing page because you want to read the flash from your ecu. After a successful read it will prompt you to specify where to save the bin.

Your box letter is irrelevant, it's shorthand for the different s4 ecu's.

You probably want the 800bb layout. See dd's post on what memory layout to choose.

When you say box letter is irrelevant are you referring to m-box vs say L-box?

I just here everyone talking about will m-box code work on ...

I did successfully read using the 800bb, attached is the file

I guess I cant edit my previous post...

So based on the vernacular I would have a k box because my code on the ecm is  4z7907551k  , correct.

I would still have to use the m-box .xdf in tunerpro correct?

The venacular is only accurate for 8D0 prefix boxes, thus the instructions to ignore it. the K-box you're referring to is the RS4 551K. You cannot use that. As for the 551M xdf, you can't use that unless you flash that file.

Woh!  Big time brain fry at this point, but I think I am learning.

So I if I want to modify my  4z7907551k code I would have to make my own .xdf with the correct hex addresses referencing the letter designations.

If I have read correctly the L-box is the tip version of the 8d0 box?

If so if I find a L-box.xdf and an L-box bin and after modifying it and updating the checksum could I then flash it to my ecu?

Yes. the M-box xdf is a good match for the L-box (tiptronic) binary. Flash that to your car and have fun!

Thanks for your help!

So m-box .xdf   l-box .bin and start tuning  :)

Is only down side  that I will loose the immobilizer?   correct?
