Title: Tuner's Tag's
Post by: Bi-turbo on August 04, 2014, 11:59:23 PM
Not sure if this is the right section.

Were/how do tuners put a tag into a tune?

I've seen that when some people post a commercial tune but how do you tell??

Thanks

Not sure if it counts but I just find a space in the hex with FF and then use a ascii to hex convertor and put that hex into the map.

It might be something as blatant as xyztuning or a string of letters or serial number that you can identify.

Best I've seen is " this is my work piss off and learn how to tune yourself! "

I put song lyrics. One of my buddies files has an entire album in there. Literally.

Sooooo (bare with me)

Would i chose what i want in there and use a binary encoder to convert it then replace some FF's with that encoded binary?

only if it is not being used. FF can also mean maximum number in maps

This is what I've used
http://www.asciitohex.com/

enter the text convert to hex and then place in the file.

As stated needs to be in a non map location. At the end of the 800f chip there is bags of room buy it'll stand out. There are gaps in the main sections that are FF but unused..

It'll checksum also obviously.

If you use winOLS, right click on the right pane. Select "as text".

In addition to allowing you to type whatever you want, it also displays a search of all possible strings in the file. I suggest defining your signature as a map so winOLS doesn't overwrite it.

Found this on a customers ecu. Figured id extract and see what was in there before i load whatever "tune" they got with this dim sport my genius programmer thing. Guessing this is an APR file, galletto was freaking out and nefmoto wouldnt extract, had to boot mode and extract with galletto.
