Title: Galletto issue
Post by: Bi-turbo on August 12, 2014, 11:55:13 AM
New chip fitted to 551C

The bord without chip had continuity to all pins from eprom to relevant points.

Chip fitted, again all continuity to relevent points.

Galletto will read

Go to flash file

Start writing...erro writing

That's all I'm getting...

Sooo frustrating

Any pointers or another way to flash file to the new chip

Can you confirm your setup works with other ECUs?

Only used it on 551C but it has read and flashed onto another but this ecu is driving me round the twistys, positive its not the ecu so I'm looking towards the software

I had this recently. I realized after the third consecutive ecu that I got a bad batch of chips that wouldn't erase properly :(

Threw new chips in and all the ecus that I though were dead came to life.

So it could be the chip/chips this is the 3rd one I've fitted as I thought it was a soldering issue

Any way I can get around it apart from New chip from different seller?

what chip do you have? I had this problem I could not erase/write that chip, I then changed to another one and never got problems again

AM29F400BB-90SC PSOP44, SOP44

Like i said it will read but read nothing if you know what i mean as its blank/new but just wont flash to it, wont even start.

3rd chip fitted all the same and all the same outcome, i did get opening port impossible but that was down to a soldering issue

Think i have bigger issues, VCDS is bringing up no response from controller ECU Dead?

If you have no response from VCDS , you didnt solder the ECU correctly or you didnt write it correctly.

Wait a minute you threw it completely blank ?? Write an ori first in programmer

How would I do that?

He is saying write your original file to the eprom before soldering it on.

I use a Mcumall GQ4x with PSOP44 adapter.

Google it.

Ok thanks

Could i not use the GQ4X to programe the eprom with in solder onto the bord??

How/what would i use to programme the eprom if its not solderd on the bord?

Thanks

Does the 44 adaptor sit into the eprom programmer then usb to pc then use the downlaod programme?

Nice one thank you.

Does the chip just sit in the adaptor?

It clips in.

When you get the adapter you'll see! Google it!

Could that be why galletto wont write to it then as the eprom is blank?

Thought so was just checking, PSOP44 adapter £10 just need to chose a programmer

Galletto will write a blank chip, no problem. I solder them on blank and then bootflash all the time. Programming it BEFORE soldering will allow you to rule that out.

Yes with Boot you can write blanked chips. I think he wants to write it in normal mode ,that is not possible :)

I also use  GQ4X . One piece of advice though ,always CHECK ID (you will see it in the software) the Chip sometimes they show something else .Remove it from PSOP adapter ,put it again and recheck before writing

Hmmm i dont want to be spending out on kit i dont need, if you have put them on blank and galletto with ecu in boot will flash a file on then that puts me back to the ecu having a fault??

Galletto says start writing...

Then 10-15 sec later changes to Start writing...writing error

The chip is solder on correctly and has continuity everywere from the eprom pins to all corrisponding pins/points on the ecu

What else could cause this?

How do you mean "normal mode"?

Thanks

Normal=any mode that isn't bootmode. You must bootmode a blank eprom before you can flash using the OBD protocol.

The ecu is in bootmode when trying to flash a file

Ground pin 24 on the eprom beofre turning on the power
