Title: Jetta 4 pulling ECU info with bad cluster Post by: EMD_Driver on August 28, 2014, 07:20:29 PM Hey all,
I have a 2003 VW Jetta IMMO3 with a Kline short in the cluster. I have a Ross Tech Hex USB+CAN cable, a Vag Tacho 2.5 cable and a Vag K+CAN Commander 1.4 cable. I also have the software for each cable. The car does run with the bad cluster in it, but I am unable to access anything via the DLC. I picked up a used cluster from another 2003 Jetta 4 today and would like to adapt it to the vehicle. I have the PIN from the cluster I got today, but I am unable to retrieve the PIN from the damaged cluster. I hooked up the replacement cluster today and was able to access all of the available control modules. I am assuming that I should be able to download the ECU EEPROM, with the replacement cluster in place. Using one of the cables I currently have, would I be able to download the EEPROM data from the ECU and extract the PIN from that? I did download the latest version of nefmoto, if that might help me. If anyone knows what I could try, please let me know. Thanks! Title: Re: Jetta 4 pulling ECU info with bad cluster Post by: EMD_Driver on August 29, 2014, 07:53:15 PM I was unable to download the ECU and I believe the PIN I was looking for is 3585. I'm not sure though, since I was unable to adapt the new cluster to the car. I followed RT's instructions to the letter and the donor vehicle's VIN keeps popping up in the cluster.. Any ideas?
Title: Re: Jetta 4 pulling ECU info with bad cluster Post by: EMD_Driver on August 29, 2014, 08:28:23 PM Ok... I really feel stupid now... When I went back and looked, I had read the wrong digits in the bin.. SHouldn't the ECU PIN be 5390?
Also, I didn't check my battery voltage.. Sitting in the car, ignition on, engine off, for three hours.... Makes the battery voltage kinda low... It was at 10.06VDC.. It's a new battery too... Go figure... Oops Title: Re: Jetta 4 pulling ECU info with bad cluster Post by: ddillenger on August 29, 2014, 08:57:24 PM 05390 is your login.

Oops You should have your car on a battery charger when you're doing flash operations. Losing voltage in the middle of an operation is a good way to brick an ECU... Title: Re: Post by: EMD_Driver on August 31, 2014, 12:07:39 PM I found that out.. I can't afford to brick this thing.. Thank you..
