Title: 2.7T a6 throttle body hose issue
Post by: em.Euro.R18 on September 09, 2014, 07:04:14 PM
I know there are a lot of you 2.7t die-hard tuners on here.  So maybe you guys have had this issue before. A co workers car can barely hold 14psi without its throttle Y pipe popping off the throttle side. Any tips or fixes? His hose is a upgraded silicone no name hose. I suggested a T bolt style clamp instead of a worm clamp but it seems like a tight place to get that in there. He's tryed hairspray.....

Other than making sure the hose and t-body are clean, and using a t-bolt clamp, there really isn't anything else that comes to mind. That's not common at all at those pressure levels.

Like above clean and dry it all with brake cleaner then id recommed using JCS Hi-grip Stainless jubliee clips

Only other fix I see to mention is a APR bi-pipe. But that's $$

T-Bolt clamps are too wide. In fact, T-Bolt clamps should not be used on intakes period.
The force that it presses with is based on the area the clamp presses on. So if you have a clamp that is twice as wide, you have to tighten it twice as hard just to get the same clamping force ...

You need a high quality narrow clamp that can be tightened properly. Either that or the Y hose is of bad design.

They make thin ones

Also, when you say "not be used on intakes" are you also referring to charge pipes?

Any decent quality clamp (Wurth and so on) will work there, there's no need for any t-bolt clamps ever.

Silicon sucks pre TB lol, hairspray helps a bit, so does getting the right clamp in the right place and giving it a nip after  few runs.
