Title: Single 2.7 Beginnings
Post by: kyleb999 on October 29, 2014, 09:36:39 PM
So ive begun to play with the tuning aspect of my 2.7t b6.
Hardware:
Stock 2.7 bottom end, cylinder heads, and intake manifold
2.8 n/a cams
single 5858 .64 vband
n75 - plugged in, but not hooked up, 7psi gate spring
single egt
single 02
4" MAF
stock fueling

Software so far:
Evap, cat, sai, n249 deletes
MLHFM scaled for 95mm maf housing
KFWDKSMX changed to allow 100% throttle past 2000rpm
LDRXN has been capped at 140 past 2500rpm
Have been using KFKHFM to correct fueling
Maf too high fault, changed MLMAX and KFMLDMX

Basically everything else is stock. My injectors are past maxed out at this point, i will be replacing them soon, but in the mean time, Im looking for some feedback on what i have already. Its overall pretty smooth, some very slight surging at low load and moving from decel to accel. AFR is pretty close to target AFR and fuel trims are decent. Not exactly sure why i cannot achieve 100% throttle at times and how my boost and load seem to be creeping like they do sometimes.

AFR column is wideband LC1 data input through ushk2 and converted from voltage to AFR through a linear equation derived from 5 fixed output voltages from the lc1 and the corresponding voltage as read by ushk2.

This is such a mess.

What are you thinking with requested AFR? I can't think of any instance that would be considered acceptable (14?!) Then at 5000 you get the onset of knock and it starts to enrich (all the way to 10.5).

Next, your hardware is all wrong. You NEED fueling. Your IDC is at 120 percent. Why the ginormous MAF (which, by the way, is not scaled correctly)? The larger the housing, the lower the resolution at low flow. Do you think you need a 4" housing with a 5858? I'd say 85, maybe 90 would be fine considering you're on a stock bottom end.

Stop going WOT. Do not even look at that pedal hard until you have fueling. What you have here is a timebomb.

My HONEST advice to you is to step back, and do a bit more reading. You're going about this completely wrong and while it is very hard to blow these cars up, it's possible.

This is the first time ive messed with a motronic based system. Ive tuned a few megasquirt cars with good results but the learning curve here is steep, so forgive me. Im having a hard time understanding where the requested fueling comes from. I dont think ive changed anything from the stock file to affect the requested AFR. Why is it not using KFLBTS to enrich?

Like i said, i know im way out of injector at this point, but i wanted to get the maf dialed in before throwing another variable in the mix. I want to understand why my maf is not scaled correctly, if actual afr is meeting requested afr, doesnt that mean that the air is being metered accurately?

So i hope im heading in the right direction. Installed injectors this weekend and made a few logs and changes to my file. I ended up using LAMFA to drive fueling, as i could not figure out BTS, and it seems to be working good. There are still some mixture issues, that i hope can be corrected with further changes to TVUB, KRKTE, and MLHFM. A screenshot from the only WOT pull this weekend. Should the maf actual be closer to the calculated value? Im seeing a bump from 2900-4000 rpm even in my previous log. KFKHFM was 1'd between these 2 logs. Ending fuel trims were about +4% idle, +.8% partial, but i still think there is more work seeing how far rich beyond requested it is under wot.
