Title: Cloning ECU Chip to Blank Chip Post by: sadsad18 on November 23, 2014, 12:21:15 PM Hello,
I'm new to the forum so please excuse any silly questions. I was wondering if it's possible to clone a ECU chip by reading it and burning the information onto a new, blank chip. If so; what hardware and software would be suitable to do this? I'm specifically interested in doing this to an 1.8t 150 AGU model ecu... so i understand the chip will need to be out of the ECU first (preferable for me). Thanks in advance, Your help is greatly appreciated. Title: Re: Cloning ECU Chip to Blank Chip Post by: turboat on November 23, 2014, 12:34:22 PM Yes it's possoble. With an AGU you will need to desolder the chip and read it in a chip reader.

Do you have any links to where I can buy a suitable chip reader and the software needed to do it? Once again, thank you. Title: Re: Cloning ECU Chip to Blank Chip Post by: ddillenger on November 24, 2014, 01:56:59 AM GQ4x with a PSOP44 adapter.

Very competent tool for little money. Title: Re: Cloning ECU Chip to Blank Chip Post by: sadsad18 on November 24, 2014, 04:16:44 AM Thank you. Very helpful replies. I'm guessing the chip reader should come with the software needed to read the information and to re-write it?
