Title: Hello from SoCal
Post by: jaydeff on December 06, 2014, 05:40:22 PM
Hi everyone, my name is John and I currently have a B6 A4 3.0 with 141k miles. My goals right now are to understand how the ECU and various related stuff works and to code out some emissions stuff since my cats are failing and I don't really feel like dropping hundreds on a tune. I ordered a Chinese cable a few weeks ago and I'm just waiting on it to arrive :). I'm an undergrad studying computer science so I'm also interested in learning how these programs interact with cars and maybe even writing some stuff once I understand some of it.

I plan on eventually swapping in a 2.7t once I have enough funds and hopefully tune/remap it myself.

Hello John, and welcome :)

I'd consider getting an MPPS cable, as nefmoto isn't very good with later ME7!

Again, welcome, and good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. I got a clone version of the Ross-Tech HEX CAN cable from aliexpress do you know if that will be good? It claims to work for up to MY14 cars.

For diagnostics, maybe. For flashing, definitely not.
