Title: EDC17?
Post by: GimpArm on December 09, 2014, 09:01:52 AM
I have a 2014 A3 2.0 TDI, I think this means I have a EDC17 ecu (correct me if I'm wrong). Can I still use NefMoto with this? If not can someone point me in the the right direction?

do you have $5k to spend on a tool? if not, stop right where you are.

That sucks, there aren't even any projects to start this? What is the name of this $5k tool that is required?

All expensive genuine tools are able to do it:
-CMD
-X17
-MPPS
-Kess/Ktag
-EVC BSL
-Byteshooter
etc.

Where are you from? The best decision in your situation is to pay a professional you trust to do it.

I'm in southern Germany, I can find a shop near me which does this but my problem is I need to bring the car into the dealership at least twice a year. I was hoping to be able to backup and restore myself instead of trying to coordinate (and pay) another garage to make the swaps. I'm quite technical and I used to do this all the time in the 90's on jap cars but never anything with the VAG cars.

After looking at these, is looks like I just need the "slave" functionality. EVC BSL looks interesting but sounds like I have to take the ECU out of the car and the boot mode might be password protected.
