Title: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: metronet on January 02, 2015, 12:24:07 PM Has anyone disabled/deleted the camshaft adjustment on the 2.7T M-box/L-box completely? I have searched around and so far this is the closest answer I've found: http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=651.msg6145#msg6145 Is it just simply make everything 0 (instead of 1) in KFNW & KFNWWL and make KFZW2 = KFZW ? Would this have any side effect like higher fuel consumption etc...? Thanks for reading and Happy New Year! Why do you want to delete the camshaft adjustment? Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: metronet on January 03, 2015, 12:25:46 AM Lower torque in lower revs. Why do you want to delete the camshaft adjustment? Right, the reason is my passenger side's solenoid is failing intermittently (ohm reading is out of spec) and wanted to experiment if I could live without VVT. Lower torque is fine with me as long as it is as reliable :) Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: ddillenger on January 03, 2015, 09:30:01 AM Right, the reason is my passenger side's solenoid is failing intermittently (ohm reading is out of spec) and wanted to experiment if I could live without VVT. Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: metronet on January 03, 2015, 07:51:06 PM Thanks for the help guys.
What fault code(s) are you getting? I noticed the following code when the engine started and stalled twice in a roll and thought it was odd (MIL not on): Code: 1 Fault Found: I think it's failing only during heavy load. There is no code set when just driving around the city. VCDS group 093 shows 0 and 4. Oh and the car is a 2001 Allroad Tip running stock L-box. Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: vwaudiguy on January 03, 2015, 09:01:15 PM If it's just the solenoid, you could just swap out the metal canister portion of the VVT aasembly. It seems so abrupt based on that log, that could be it.
Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: ddillenger on January 03, 2015, 09:02:30 PM Looks like the driver's side (bank2) is having the issue.
What does measuring block 093 read at idle? What does measuring block 093 read at idle? I did notice bank2 is never able to reach 22 degree and I always have a few misfires at cold start at cylinder #5 (me7logger thinks cylinder #4 for some reason). Group 093 reads either 0, 4 at cold start or 1, 5 in closed loop. I have seen them as far as 5 (CF) apart, bank2 being the one that's always higher. Do you think this can cause an issue at high load? Thanks. Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: nyet on January 03, 2015, 10:59:08 PM a few misfires at cold start at cylinder #5 (me7logger thinks cylinder #4 for some reason). Ya... the cylinder number can't always be trusted! Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: vwaudiguy on January 04, 2015, 12:28:36 AM Ya... the cylinder number can't always be trusted! Truth. Seen it many times. Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: metronet on January 05, 2015, 09:55:01 AM Another noob question... What about cdnws?
Does it turn off VVT if cdnws is set to 0, or that's strictly for diagnosis only? Thanks! :) Title: Re: Disable VVT on 2.7T M-box Post by: nyet on January 05, 2015, 10:15:35 AM Another noob question... What about cdnws?
