Title: SAI Removal and Fuel Adaptations Post by: Three77 on January 10, 2015, 04:52:55 PM I've read in a few places that removal of the SAI system messes with fuel adaptions and was curious if this was the case as my mileage seemed to suffer after removing mine. I have searched this forum to see if there was any info regarding this, but haven't found any supporting evidence.
Can anyone confirm/debunk this? Thanks! Title: Re: SAI Removal and Fuel Adaptations Post by: seishuku on January 10, 2015, 04:56:18 PM SAI only runs on cold starts to get the catalytic converters up to temp faster, it doesn't serve any other purpose.
Now, if it were coded out incorrectly, it could cause long term fuel trims to be disabled, which could be an issue. Title: Re: SAI Removal and Fuel Adaptations Post by: Three77 on January 10, 2015, 05:03:31 PM That is kind of what I thought. It's great to know that I can code it out without concern.
Thanks much for the quick response! Title: Re: SAI Removal and Fuel Adaptations Post by: ddillenger on January 10, 2015, 05:27:28 PM Removing SAI will kill fuel trims in the 1.8t IF you remove the pump/relay and have an open circuit DTC. For this you use ESKONF.

Title: Re: SAI Removal and Fuel Adaptations Post by: Three77 on January 15, 2015, 09:19:56 PM So in attempting to remove SAI in ESKONF I changed SLP (located at 10d2d, byte 5, bit 4) from F8 to FB (00 to 11), and SLV (located at 10d2e, byte 6, bit 3) from 30 to 3c (00 to 11), but I'm still getting a P0411 code thrown.
Am I missing something? I've attached the bin for review. TIA! Title: Re: Post by: thelastleroy on January 24, 2015, 08:03:54 PM Have you tried mslub? All that was necessary for my SAI delete was to set the whole mslub table to 0. I have the pump and pipework removed, but the relay still functional. I used to get p0411 but now it's gone.

I too have all the hardware removed, mslub is the only thing that I haven't changed as I was under the impression that eskonf was the only real change required. I'll track it down later tonight or tomorrow as it's not defined for the CH box. Thanks for the heads up! MSLUB was easy for me to locate, the hex values were the same for the entire table from the very well defined Mbox xdf. I just searched the binary with a hex editor search function. Title: Re: SAI Removal and Fuel Adaptations Post by: Three77 on January 25, 2015, 08:50:49 PM Cool, I'll find it via the way you described if need be. I think I may have solved the issue as I forgot that I had a resistor plugged into the harness to prevent codes prior to coding it out. ::)
