Title: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on July 01, 2011, 11:10:03 AM Hello all, I've been browsing the forum for a while and I still can't understand everything here. I have a 1998 audi s4 (euro model) with gt2860 turbos and a aem f/ic for controlling fuel and ignition and clamping the MAF sensor. I live in Romania and here there is no reputable S4 tuners so I can't get a proper tune for my car so I used the f/ic (a friend of mine knows how to tune it). The downside of using the f/ic over a standalone is that I don't have control over all of the engine's features. I need to code out my EGT's, throttle cut and I want to raise the rev limiter from 7250 to 7800. I don't know if I have to bench flash my ecu or it cand be flashed through the OBDII port. All I know is that my car has AGB code on it and that it has the 512kb version of the ecu so I don't think it is an M-box or A-box or whatever... So if anyone could help me with these problems I would really appreciate it. Sorry if my english is bad and for my noobness by wasting your time reading this...

Do you have a cheap KKL (ODB2 to usb to serial) cable? If you do then read your ECU and post the version here. Then we can help. IF you don't have one, then get one :) Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on July 03, 2011, 02:08:07 AM Hi Sorin. I'll buy a cable these days. Does it matters what version of the kkl cable I buy ? And please tell me if I need some other cables for flashing so I order them with this one so I don't have to wait that long.... thank's...Do you have a cheap KKL (ODB2 to usb to serial) cable? Personally, that is the only cable I ever use. Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on July 03, 2011, 09:05:55 PM Ok, thanks, I'll order one today and in 3 days maybe less I'll have one and I will post my ecu version...
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: a200tq on July 07, 2011, 08:47:31 AM Hello neighbour! (i am from Russia)
Look at your version of ME7. If this is a 8D0 907 551C-this is OK, there is alot info about this box. I tune myself s4 with 2 garrett gt28, its run strong without any boost-fuel etc controllers. But if you motronic is 8D0 907 551-its no good. Very first me7 i think, no information about CD bites, and hard to tune. Despite i found kfldhbn, kfmirl, kfdluls, ldrxn (with thanks to gremlin)-i cant obtain requested boost bigger then 1680 millibar. I dont know why. Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on August 30, 2011, 08:58:32 AM I have managed to get hold of the original ecu file from mtm tuning (the tuned file was encrypted so nobody could read it) but the problem is it's not a .bin file, it is a .dat file. If someone can have a look and tell me if it can be tuned....
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: nd77_77_77 on August 30, 2011, 10:38:23 AM I think you might be better off leaving tuning to someone else if you don't even know what to do with a 512kb .dat file...
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on August 30, 2011, 11:48:06 AM I've managed to open the file with tuner pro and of course I need a xdf file, that was all. I want to know how can I raise the rpm value to 7800, the xdf doesen't have a rpm value.
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 15, 2011, 10:22:43 AM Can someone help me code my EGT's out ? I really need it and I don't have the proper xdf for this... below is my .bin file....
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: Rick on September 15, 2011, 12:08:14 PM Which software version is it?
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 15, 2011, 12:19:36 PM it's the 512kb version, like the C-box....
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: Rick on September 15, 2011, 01:40:22 PM Why don't you try flashing a c box file to it?
Rick Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 15, 2011, 01:45:13 PM Even if I flash a C-box file I still need to code out the egt's... so I guess I'll still have the same problem like before. If you know a .xdf file for the c-box that can let me disable the egt's please let me know...
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: Rick on September 15, 2011, 01:49:05 PM I can probably find the constants you need in a C box, but first try flashing it so see if the car will run. C box has an immobiliser.
Rick Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 15, 2011, 01:51:19 PM The thing is I loaded in tunerpro a C-box .xdf and everything is in order, I can't disable those damn EGT's. If you know how to disable EGT's in a C-box please try that to my .bin file...
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: nyet on September 15, 2011, 06:03:11 PM What have you tried to modify so far?
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 16, 2011, 11:18:40 AM What have you tried to modify so far? Well, I have flashed today my mtm tune with a stock .bin but didn't code out the egt's. The only thing that I modified were TABGSS, TABGSS2, TABGBTS and TDATSO giving them maximum value in tunerpro so they don't come on when the engine starts to heet. The next problem that I am confronting is the boost deviation because of the map sensor. I will try tomorrow and clamp that thing from my piggyback and see how the car reacts. Now what I want is to have all the tuning possibilities of the M-box to mine. I'll give 50$ to whoever gets me one... :)Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: nyet on September 16, 2011, 11:25:37 AM TABGBTS is not something you want to mess with in this context. It has nothing to do with the real EGT sensors.
I don't know what TDATSO does. Have you read this? http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tuning#EGT Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 16, 2011, 11:35:04 AM At least those EGT's don't come on, and yes I have read that. The thing is, those are for the M-box, I don't have that in my xdf (which is from a C-box). Believe me, if I had the possibility to code them out, I would have done it.
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: nyet on September 16, 2011, 11:38:12 AM Given your shopping list, you are best off doing your own tune from scratch.
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 16, 2011, 12:06:54 PM How do I do a tune from scratch ? Buy a standalone ?
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: nyet on September 16, 2011, 12:29:29 PM stock ME7 ecu.
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on September 16, 2011, 01:43:24 PM I don't know how to build that thing from scratch, seriously....
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: nyet on September 16, 2011, 01:45:40 PM Start learning, or find a another tuner.
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: TTQS on October 25, 2011, 11:53:39 AM Sorin,
Further to your PM, I'm sorry to be critical but you really should just save up and replace the EGT sensor. Can you not try to source a used part from somewhere in Europe for this vehicle to save money? You have a nice car and should maintain it properly and not try to defeat an important safety feature through tuning. It doesn't look that trivial in any case but the information on the S4 wiki about which codewords, etc. to set to achieve it look correct from what I can see from a quick check of the DATS and PROKON functions. I'm sorry we can't be more help, but no tuner, amateur or professional should be prepared to code out EGTs. TTQS Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: SorinRS4 on November 10, 2011, 09:00:48 PM I think I've given up.... there is no hope for my ecu. I have 2 options: buy a standalone or change it with A/M box if that is possible (best case scenario).....
Title: Re: Help, noob here Post by: Gonzo on November 10, 2011, 09:20:51 PM Find a good tuner that can tune you remotely. I can't believe you can't find one.
There is more than one on here that are willing to do it for ya if you pay them.
