Title: vw mk4 v6 BDE instrument cluster swap Post by: Leon Mk1 on January 16, 2015, 07:23:04 AM hello all forum members
bought a v6 4motion model 2000 the orignal instrument cluster had an electrical short at the old owner and swaped into new (used) instrument cluster, same part number,MOTOMETER brand. i dont have the part number right now but i will add it asap. i want to adapt the new (used) instrument and turn off the annoying IMMO light off. i ordered VAGTACHO cable but didnt got it yet. if it helps i also have blue vag com cable and vcds 12.12 cable. my question is if the old origninal cluster is DEAD, how can i get the SKC to adapt the new(used) instrument ? i also want to adapt a new key with immo. the car is cranking and runing because i have HALTECH ecu plugged. many thanks for your help Title: Re: vw mk4 v6 BDE instrument cluster swap Post by: terok on January 16, 2015, 07:39:59 AM Why do you need to adapt if your car is running with Haltech? Just stuff something into the immo led hole :)
Old cluster SKC can also be retrieved from the original ecu. Title: Re: vw mk4 v6 BDE instrument cluster swap Post by: Leon Mk1 on January 16, 2015, 08:06:15 AM so many light got black painted... ;D
this specific light is annoying cause it also blinked and i'm not sure i can adapt new key (alarm) to my car without adapting the cluster\immo. i got vcds fault code says somthing about emergency or so on my cluster. retrieving SKC from ECU, how ? thanks for quick replay Title: Re: vw mk4 v6 BDE instrument cluster swap Post by: tabster on January 16, 2015, 04:36:26 PM Since your car is a 2000 model, it uses the IMMO2 system.
This means that your engine ECU does not store the SKC. Anyway, you don't need the old SKC, you only need the SKC from the new cluster. Both are needed only on IMMO3 systems and newer... I hope you are right, At rosstech wiki page it says i do need the old SKC number http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_II_Immobilizer_Swapping_%28Instrument_Cluster%29 (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_II_Immobilizer_Swapping_%28Instrument_Cluster%29) BTW This is the cluster part number 1j0920822f Title: Re: vw mk4 v6 BDE instrument cluster swap Post by: tabster on January 17, 2015, 05:57:54 AM It doesn't say that!
Quote from: wiki.ross-tech.com Prerequisites: The Coding from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster has been saved. The REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) cluster is installed in the car. Battery voltage at least 12.0 V. All relevant coding and adaptation values have been transferred from the OLD (ORIGINAL) cluster to the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) cluster. Make sure to have the PIN for the REPLACEMENT (NEW or USED) instrument cluster. Make sure to have the Radio Code (for factory radios only).
