Title: ME7check closes
Post by: KAWIMAN34 on January 21, 2015, 08:57:23 PM
Trying to run me7check on win7 64bit and it closes immediately. I also tried it by going to cmd and still nothing. Ive searched the best i could but i cannot find a solution. Some guidance with how to do this would be greatly appreciated!

Please cut and paste the output of what you are doing in the cmd window.

Do not use screen shot. Use "mark".

Ok so i did get it working by just opening cmd and running it that way. I read the file off my ecu. Opened it in tuner pro and made changes only for launch control. I used a m box xdf. An xdf in tuner pro is a way to look at your ecu file correct? Ive ran me7sum and it found 8 errors and corrected them. I should be okay to flash now correct? I guess the only thing i wanna make sure is when i open the xdf in tuner pro im reading my ecu file that i have open in tuner pro and not someone elses.

The xdf file is a definition file. It defines which part of the binary (.bin) file you will edit for a given function. The xdf file MUST be for the specific software that you want to edit, or else you will be changing things all over the place, which won't work.

What is your car? post your bin, or the output of ME7Check to verify the software you are working on.

If you are at all unsure of whether your file is correct, don't flash unless you have a recovery plan.

My car:
02 2.7t 6mt s4
ECU: 8D0907551T (Tbox)

I used a mbox xdf since i keep reading that Tbox and Mbox are completely interchangeable.
I have saved my original ecu file to a safe place i can always retrieve it from. I also have read some on how to unbrick it.
Here is the .bin that i have generated through mbox xdf only making changes for launch control.

The M-box xdf is only accurate with the M-box file.

Ah ok. Ive only found 1 T box xdf but its kinda hard to understand. I was playing with your nefmotostg1 xdf and its very nice. But ok i will continue exploring and learning before i do anything.
Thank you very much!

Good idea. Although you can flash the M-box binary to your T-box. That's what is meant by compatible.

im not sure if you saw that post. Scratch that. I just deleted it. Ok so I need a stock Mbox binary to edit in tuner pro to flash to my t box. What your saying is I cant use my stock Tbox binary in a Mbox xdf and flash it?

The mbox xdf does not have the correct locations for a T box, so you either need to:

- use mbox bin, mbox xdf
- use tbox bin, tbox xdf.

Tbox bin, mbox xdf == fail.

Ok that makes since. I went here http://nyet.org/cars/files/stock/ (http://nyet.org/cars/files/stock/) and got the correct mbox .bin.
To be clear with doing it the way you said I can flash an mbox file (using a mbox xdf of course in tuner pro) to my tbox?

Yes, you can flash a mbox bin onto a tbox.
