Title: allroad won't start on any tune but the tune I pulled from it NOW RUNNING 551L Post by: mounty on February 22, 2015, 10:43:14 PM 2002 allroad Tip. Trying to flash a s4 file to it so I can work on coding out rear o2s and such.
551m ecu. Try to flash over a stock 551L file. No start. Tip display lit solid like limp mode. Found a s4 tip file. Still won't start. Is there something I'm missing with trying to flash a 551m to a 551L? Nothing from an s4 either tip or 6 speed file thus far.

Although I haven't tried to write to it as a s4. Only read and wrote with allroad selected. For whatever reason, they no longer respond until you flash back the original file. I assume it skips a pertinent sector.

But I did this time to try and see if maybe it was the file bad. I only flashed tunes from more reputable members here too.
So my issue is mpps flashing on the stock allroad ecu. So I can flash a stock s4 file through nefmoto. Then once that's done I should be able to go back to mpps then? Hope I can find a good nefmoto cable again. It's been a while since I've used it. I actually ran into this issue the other day. I flashed in OBD which I never do and it bricked the ECU. Bootmode to the rescue. I can flash back to stock tune and it's fine. Ended up ordering a new cable. Hoping it's here before the weekend. It's only one state away

Got to 6% then failed. Car wouldn't start. Blah blah. Flashed stock tune back with mpps. Starts fine. Going to pull ecu after work to see if it's been chipped or not. Been down this road once before.

MPPS cannot be used to change the file number. That is the problem. Got to 6% and failed. I know mpps can't change it. You made that clear. I only used mpps in this case to get my car driving again by flashing the stock file back on that's all. I'm trying to flash with nefmoto. But it fails to read so far.

Failed 3 times but was getting higher each time. Got to 30% then I bumped the USB cord and it disconnected. And then promptly after that my laptop died. Now I'm just waiting for my laptop to charge at work.

There was a sweet spot of too much/not enough battery voltage that really seemed to make communication much faster and reliable.

One is my evap short to ground. Had that before. Car is a pain to fill with gas. 2nd is bank 2 sensor 1 o2 resistance too high.
