Title: How to restore socketed ecu?
Post by: kymi on March 01, 2015, 06:19:17 AM
I came across with a socketed ecu on Audi A3 1.8tq 2002 (8L), ecu 06A906032HJ. To be able to flash the car with nefmoto software I think I have two options: 1. Spend a bunch of money and buy used (or new) compatible ecu (hope it's not socketed) and have trouble with immo. 2. Restore the socketed ecu with standard memory chip.

It sounds to me that option 2 is the way to go if possible. What's the type of the original (or compatible) chip, M29F800BB PSOP44? Will I be able to flash it in the ecu using boot mode or do I need to flash it with a prommer before? Is there anything else I should know?

You need to desolder the socket, and put a stock chip in. 29F800BB-70SE is compatible.
