Title: Codeword for missing vss?
Post by: _nameless on March 15, 2015, 07:37:43 PM
Any one know off hand the codeword for missing vss signal to ecu?
Thanks
Marty

Can you post the code, and description?

Presumably NMAXDV is too pedestrian?

Are you referring to an ECU map code-name?  I would love to find this out myself because late model 1.8t MKIVs supposedly did not use a VSS in the transmission. I have a friend who currently has an issue with a missing/broken VSS sensor.

The code is for:
16885 - Vehicle Speed Sensor
            P0501 - 35-00 - Implausible Signal

any further lead on this? same issue- 24v vr6 swap no vss to ecu- speedo works fine?!

I've only seen this on the earliest MK5's. The version after the 02M in the mk4 (02Q I believe) eliminated the vss sensor from the trans housing, and gets its vss signal from the abs system via can. We had one here where we made a wheel (to duplicate what is machined on the side of the diff) to fit on the output flange, and fabbed a bracket to hold the original vss sensor.

basic of it is i swapped a can capable ecu into a non- can car- someone has figured out how to make the ecu "see" the signal or just ignore the abs system altogether- thats what i need- someone with that file willing to share for half the cost of me buying it.

NMAXDV will get rid of the revlimiter from the missing signal.

Why not adjusting all variants of CW_CAN_R CW_CAN_S properly? This should switch off CAN-BUS communication but still you will not get VSS signal as it is send by the cluster to ECU over CAN I believe :) It is instrument cluster role to source the signal (from independent sender or from ABS over CAN - at least in VW/Skoda clusters it is switchable) and pass it over to ECU.
