Title: 2001 Allroad cluster 01177 error
Post by: metronet on May 02, 2015, 07:46:46 PM

I am getting the following fault code after switching CLK/DATA to CAN H/L on my Cluster.
Not experiencing any issues but I am really interested to know "why" I am getting this code, and how to get rid of it.

Code:
Control Module Part Number: 4Z7 920 930 D
  Component and/or Version: C5-KOMBIINSTR. VDO D13
           Software Coding: 02364
1 Fault Found:
01177 - Engine Control Unit
        49-00 - No Communications

2001 Allroad Tiptronic running stock L-box (no immobilizer). Instrument Cluster channel 62 is re-coded to display information from RNS-E. Everything works fine, just this warning code.

Any thoughts?

Adaptations, channel 060. What's it say there?

Channel 060 is set to 3075

Code:
+0001 engine
+0002 automatic transmission
+1024 instrument cluster
+2048 self-leveling suspension (Allroad only)

The other thing I noticed is when RNS-E power (or battery) is unplugged and after entering the security code successfully it jumps right back to PIN entry mode. It would sync with the cluster eventually after a few trips.

I know the cluster is talking to the RNS-E correctly via Can because I get the in-dash road guidance and the screen is off when ignition off. The ECU (8D0907551L) does not have any fault codes.
