Title: MPPS - "noread"
Post by: s-company on August 01, 2011, 12:53:00 PM
Hello!
i have the original MPPS (Master), is there any chance to read ECU's with "NOREAD"?

if i read the flash which is signed with "noread" the file will be safed as a unusable file...

thanks for helping

I guess since you have the original master mpps you would be the best to answer this question?  ;D

NOREAD is just a tag to prevent opening in WinOLS right?

Hex edit it to FFFFF *then* open it on WinOLS and correct the checksum.

thats not possible to edit it to FFF, the file looks like that after reading (see attachment and open in winols)..

Looks  like your tool is a slave, that reads files and then encrypts them.

hello,
no slave, if i read ecu's with no "noread", i get it open in its full size.
before i buyed this tool, i often read that this tool does not care about "noread", now it seems this info was wrong...

what original version do you use?
I made a patch for a xxx MPPS version to skip the no read check while OBD reading (PN).

there is a workaround too:
search mops.exe process after reading (and before saving) with win hex / HXD or similar tool and search for characteristic hex pattern and extract that part of memory.

This is a great tip, thank you.

The master will not encrypt NOREAD files...

Sounds like you have a slave.

the Master DOES encrypt no read files. for sure.
maybe it depends on the version number.

I have been using all versions from v3 up to v8 and I have never run into this issue.
I have yet to try v9 though.

Does MPPS read ME7/7.5 without using boot mode, just as Nefmoto?

Rick

Hi all,
I have a similar problem ... in my case if I can read, but the file weighs only 308 Kb and 1024 Kb as it should. -

Someone can explain me because I can not read all the data? ??? ??? ??? ???

Tnks a lot 4 help!

PS: I'm down the info, because with nefmoto, layout error. - I will put more info on the night nefmoto that mistake. -

But I'm worried because I said MPPS read correctly and the file is too small. - Place in the total reading options. -

No read encrypted file or you are using a clone.

In some early versions, MPPS didn't "honor" the NOREAD tag (tag doesn't really prevent reading). In current versions it does, thus only saves encrypted file.

Somewhere around v10, MPPS was really broken. Nothing worked like it should have. This has been fixed a long time ago, in genuine tools at least :)

This is correct. V8 and V10 were a nightmare.

MPPS can read both in boot mode and without.

i use v12 and there is no entry for bootmode oder something else. When i use the car i get the answer "no informations". With galletto it works...

another problem i have: I can read without any difficult, but when i write, at the end near 99 or 100 % i get the "MPPS Error". The car starts   and when i read the file it is the same write...any ideas?!

clone?

bootmode is located/hidden behind carbrand "generic".
And there is a modified exe from other community to read/write "noread" files.

i had problems with galletto and mpps due to high voltage. 11-12v worked perfect for me.

thanks for help ;)

but when i used bootmode he only read some percent and then i got the MPPS Error. more ideas?

Hello, thank you very much for answering Gonzo ..
There is way to know if the file or cable?
I am using a clone. -

If you want to dump your cables eeprom (use mprog) and attach the ept, I can compare it with mine and check to see if it's a cable problem!

Later MPPS versions do indeed make a totally crypted file for cars with the NOREAD tag, here's the very latest setup file with online updating enabled.
