Title: interchangeability me7xx ECU's
Post by: wesselh93 on July 13, 2015, 05:56:17 AM
Guys,

I was wondering if it was possible to put the bin file of the Cupra R 6k0906032AB in the ecu from the normal Cupra 6K0906032AA

I checked both bins on checksum, and they workout just fine.
Bootrom version is the same.
EPK is slightly of, cupra r is me7.1. Cupra on the other hand is me7.5
VAG sw number is also of.

Anybody who hast experience in interchangeble ECU's on ME7.xx?

I'd rather know, why it isn't possible if it isn't, than a simple no as an answer.

As an addition I would like to mention de AA ecu is from the VAG155 group, the AB ecu is from the VAG114 group.

Somwhere here in this forum, they say if the Bootrom version is the same there would be no brick.
But does that imply that the engine will run?

There are hardware differances between the cupra and cupraR. The R having a different turbo, injectors, maf size etc..

Not sure if you can flash the file or not but its not suitable for the car unless you have made changes to the hardware

On the Ibiza Cupra and Cupra R from 2001 there are no hardware differences,
otherwise I didn't ask these question at all.

I've got a Cupra AYP, same engine as the Cupra R AQP.
The normal Cupra AQP has smaller injectors.

So there should be no substantial difference in hardware

You should of made it clear you were talking about an ibiza as i assumed you were talking about the leon

I'm very sorry, I should have made it clear.

I also like to make clear I'm not just a lazy person, I'm busy defining the 6K0906032AA bin. There is no damos or KP file on the internet.

Although if this would work, it makes life a lot less complicated

Just a late answer, due to being busy with work etc.

I've managed to flash the R file on the stock AA ECU.

Runs fine, no problems at all.

Really.....

Is there any chance at all that I might be able to use the ME7.5 ECU from a 2004 1.8 flashed with a 2003 3.0 or a 2004 S4 4.2?

How many cylinders does a 1.8 have, and how many does the 4.2 have?

I hoped there was an outside chance that it wouldn't matter.

Case in point, both the 3.0 V6 and the 4.2 V8 use ME7.1.1

That said, I wasn't holding my breath... :p

Motronic version doesn't have anything to do with it. 4-cylinder ecu doesn't have the necessary hardware and outputs to drive 8-cylinder engine.
