Title: Choosing a spare ME7 ECU Post by: kenmac on August 07, 2011, 11:02:03 PM I am in the market for a spare ME7 ECU. I own a 2003 VW GTI (20th anniv.) with a ME7.5 (06A906032PL). Engine code is AWP. I would like to know if there would be any issue with obtaining any VW ME7.5 ECU and flashing it with the correct stock file for my engine.
For example, I can purchase a 06A906032DL. I am hoping I can disable IMMO on it (or update SKC) so I can easily swap it with my current ECU in case of a bad flash, or any other reason why it'd be good to have a backup. I am thinking I should be able to use an ECU that seemingly has identical hardware as long as I'm loading it with the appropriate software. (ie. EEPROM & Flash)

If you are trying to find out which ECUs are compatible, start with ones with the closest matching hardware and software part numbers. Also ECUs made for the same generation of car with the same engine type are a good place to start. |
