Title: MK4 R32 Turbo - with S4 Loom/ECU?
Post by: adam- on August 13, 2015, 01:23:21 AM
Just having a think in work while I'm idle and I've been thinking.  Just got myself a graduate job and making an income finally.  Was thinking about MK6 Golf R's and how they obviously didn't do a V6 version.

The bay of the MK6 is near enough identical to the MK5; and hence MK4 (mounts, etc).  Could buy a MK6 and whack the MK5 3.2 into it for noise, but then it would be all noise and no go.

Even still, the MK4 R engine has a better note; so why not smash that in?

Boost is more fun though, so why can't you throw an S4 loom and ECU at it so you have controlled boostings on a MK4/5/6 R engine?

Just thinking while I add my income up per month to see what I can afford..

Because R32 has continous camshaft adjustment and other stuff way different (wideband vs narrowband etc).

There is no need to do this either. If you get serious about this let me know, and I can add PID boost control to any R32 ECU.

Was purely for a discussion point while I was in work.  I have no real knowledge of either engine as I've never encountered them.

It's just that I'm getting bored of FWD and wanted a little more.  An S4 has always been my guilty pleasure, but so has a MK4/5 R.  There are various threads about controlling R's with boost, but I thought the hardware (N75) control was none existent on the ECU, so there wasn't much you could do.

You post suggest otherwise. I'll go study the ECU pinouts. I guess with a little ASM you could control another valve instead.

No 2.7t was wideband.

Sorry. I was mistaken.
