Title: VCDS cable problems with Nef flashing softwrae Post by: hytron on August 21, 2015, 12:10:57 AM vcl drivers installed incorrectly or cable not in dumb mode. I am not sure how to set the adapter in the dumb mode? The VCDS software works fine with it. Is it through VCDS software? Please help!! http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tuning#Flashing_utilities The Nefmoto Free ECU Flashing Software and an eBay USB VAG KKL cable - The easiest and best supported method. Does not rely on boot mode, but will not flash bricked ECUs because bootmode support is not complete. You can also use (recent) VCDS (Ross-tech) cables with Nefmoto, but you may have to disable "intelligent mode" in the VCDS setup dialog (intelligent mode causes the VCDS driver software to constantly poll the cable in the background, which may interfere with non VCDS apps). For more information, see the Nefmoto Flashing Guide. Title: Re: VCDS cable problems with Nef flashing softwrae Post by: hytron on August 21, 2015, 10:39:08 PM The vehicle in question is 2006 VW Jetta TDI. This info is provided by VCDS:
Address 01: Engine Labels: 038-906-016-BEW.lbl Part No SW: 03G 906 016 AB HW: 028 101 223 8 Component: R4 1,9L EDC G000SG 7550 Revision: --H01--- Serial number: VWZ7Z0E2762844 Coding: 0050071 Shop #: WSC 00066 000 00000 VCID: 63C5AAA8A2D43206E91-8036 The VCDS adapter was purchased about year and half ago, I assume it is new enough. It has the latest firmware from Ross-Tech downloaded a month ago (Version 1.94). I have unchecked all of the boxes in VCDS related to the adapter. Unplugged the adapter from both the computer and vehicle. Waited 10 seconds. Plugged everything back in. I got the following message in the status window: Connecting... Starting slow init connection. Connecting to address 0x01. Slow init succeeded. Switching to KWP2000 session. Connected Disabling Windows sleep mode. Reading all ECU info. Starting diagnostic session. Successfully started diagnostic session. Negotiating communication timings. Timing negotiation failed. Communication timings are unchanged. Reading all ECU info failed. 100% complete. Restoring Windows sleep mode. Disconnecting... Disconnected What could be wrong?
