Title: 8N0906018K immo off plz
Post by: jinx on August 25, 2015, 11:02:17 AM
Been ripping my hair out over the MK1 TT I recently purchased.. Short story, I get it home and the cluster fried the next day just sitting.. Finally got the SKC and ordered a replacement cluster from Wolf Auto.. Can't get the SKC from it :o plugs in, powers up, reads correctly. Now the car starts but shuts right off. Hoping killing the immo will end it. I'm no good with this stuff and having a very hard time getting help locally. I really don't want to brick the ecu, my wife will kill me! 01 TT AMU 8N0906018K I really need to get this car back on the road asap! Could care less about it being easier to steal.

Thank you very much!! Guess I gotta wait for my Galletto 1260 flashing cable to get here before writing to the ecu. For some reason I thought it was doable with a ross-tech cable.. Ah well. I only have a KII cable and it's not working.

K2 cable with VCP drivers will work without issue.

Tried it with the VCP in dumb mode, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can read it just fine, can't write it at all with the ecu in bootmode. I'm doing it with the ECU in the car while on a charger, so power isn't a problem.

Bootmode done properly?  ECU open, pin shorted etc?  You need two sets of hands to do it in the car though.. :P

It is totally possible I'm using the wrong CMD line in order to push it through with me7_95040. I get connection but errors right away. Possible something is wrong with the ECU already? To be honest, I was using the CMD for writing from --help.

Tried again and and it's still failing. Is it possible me7_95040 is bugging for my specific ecu? ecu toast? Anyone care to share the CMD I should be using? I appreciate that you guys are taking time out to help me with this!!

The line in CMD is

me7_95040 --bootmode -wp1 95040.bin

You need to have your bin in the same map as me7_95040 and need to be renamed to 95040.bin
wp1 is in this case port 1.
If you are in bootmode - this will work.
Post your error code.

I had similar issues, for whatever reason it just wouldn't work when the ecu was in the car.

When I removed it and hooked it up to a bench harness it worked flawlessly.

So the file name being 95040 is important? If so that's my problem... Will post the details on next attempt. Thanks!

C:\immo>me7_95040 --bootmode -wp1 95040.bin
Ver: 1.31
Com Port: 1
Baud Rate: 10400
Opening COM1 ... OK
Starting Boot_mode ... FAIL ... No response from ECU. (error=0x07)
Closing COM1

Could it be because I have the replacement cluster in place while doing this? Should I put the bad one back in?

Ofcourse.

Looks like you have bootmode problems.
It is touchy but you will get there :)

The reason I ask, it's tripping the immo to prevent starting. The old cluster will still allow the car to start.

Some of these cars have imobilizers and some do not. I am trying to find a tool to R+R the non immo file from my original cluster to the new one with immo so I no longer have to look at that key in the dash mocking me. I tool a quick look at the board and did not see an eeprom on it so I am going to assume memory is in the processor?
