Title: dtc16985 Checksum in the 95040....
Post by: AmIdYfReAk on August 14, 2011, 09:17:01 PM
i know there was some talk of turning off the checksum correction within the 95040...

would this be the address?

mine is showing A5, not 33.... but still makes me wonder. :D

Sorry,

Looking back at my extremely tired post, I think its a little to vague.

From what I've been reading people around here have talked about the fabled Check sum Off switch for the ECU, So correcting the checksums is not needed.

But not a single user/post was able to confirm what address it was, This picture seems to depict one stating it would fix it... but is it the one that would continue to the 800BB, or is it local to the 95040.

i think it can both ways, either to code it out of the dtc of the 800bb or try the above.  From what i seen on good bin files is 00 in the 2 locations.  I have yet to find someone with the issue that i can try it on guess you can force the opposite also.  Froam what i read its not the tune that causes it, but vw messing up in the first place, can happen on non tuned, but for some reason most poeple that are tuned see it more.  They say its cause of the checksum but when i calculate it it come out fine.

Anyone have this error? and want it fixed free!

I 100% Agree,

EDIT: All of mine are shoring 00 in place....

and a few of the tunes when scanned come up with Checksum errors, So i wonder if thats the case.

Yesterday i've put this file into the EEPROM, and the car start! After three ignition cycles i got the dtc16985 again!

My tuningfile is corrected and testet with me7sum and me7check with no errors!

I'm confusing now!

Edit: I've got a DTC althought the .bin was corrected by me7sum. I think i have a faulty map on my XDF! I flashed a backup of my tuning file without the last changes i have made! My car is starting now!
