Title: Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ? Post by: elRey on October 04, 2015, 12:34:04 PM Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ?
Can someone explain the reasoning? KFLDRQ0 (P) KFLDRQ1 (I) KFLDRQ2 (D) Transverse on the left, longitudinal on the right: (http://creativeion.com/rey/vw/help/stock_pid_diff.gif) Title: Re: Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ? Just kidding ;D Title: Re: Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ? Post by: elRey on October 04, 2015, 06:13:52 PM Ha.
I'd like to see 2.7t versions. Title: Re: Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ? Post by: zillarob on October 04, 2015, 08:36:57 PM Sounds like there are different methods to tune pid's.
I wonder if a computer tuned all three at the same time for the one on the left, and maybe a human tuned the one on the right in 3 individual steps? Been trying to get my head around this stuff lately, and the one on the right made me think of this (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/33/PID_Compensation_Animated.gif) Title: Re: Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ? Post by: !nfern0 on October 07, 2015, 07:22:05 AM Why did VW calibrate PID differently between transverse and longitudinal 1.8T ? I think it's a simple answer: They were calibrated by two different engineers. The better one is the left because of this simple rule: a map should always be as flat as possible. steep gradients are not good for interpolating. and an ecu is always interpolating on maps. Post by: userpike on October 08, 2015, 11:04:43 PM Could it be that since ME7 is load based that the PIDs for the different versions are the way they are because of vehicle weight? i wonder if they are the same for the FWD 2wd versions compared to quattro in the Audis and 4motion in VW. I want to add that I just realized the comparison above is between a sports car and a passenger car. Maybe the the oem tune is slightly more aggressive in the TT
