Post by: vwnut8392 on October 21, 2015, 09:56:56 AM im still working on trying to cure the old lady's beetle 1.8T that has malfunctioned. i have a few 032DL ECU's from parts cars and i tried one of them in the beetle. the car runs but the cooling fans keep fluctuating from high to low, like not on/off but like variable speed when the key is on or the car is running. i figured this would work because my GTI 1.8T was factory with the same 032DL ECU and my car is narrowband 02 but has VVT. the beetle is obviously narroband 02 but no VVT but i feel i can edit the file to shit off the VVT and it should have been good to go. in my car im actually using a 032HS BIN and i dont have a problem as well. only reason i chose the 032HS BIN was because it had a fully defined XDF already posted here so that made my life easier. i even tried loading the same 032HS BIN from my car into the spare 032DL ECU for her car and it still does the same stupid fan thing.
over all is there something different in the wiring pinout that im missing from the beetle to the golf/jetta that makes the beetle fans go crazy? or did i read wrong info and the ECU im using is really wideband? im just confused because one post said if the car has the VVT solenoid its wideband but my GTI has VVT solenoid and narrowband upstream 02. maybe my car is a factory freak. What size is the bin that you pulled from the original DL ECU? What ECU was originally in the ECU? I had a problem that when I was trying to program my cluster the connection dropped out, the cluster reset and the fans jammed on. It wasn't until I went into vag-commander? (maybe, not sure), I could press "Reset ECU", and it reset the clocks? and the fans went off. Why not put the ECU designed for the Beetle, in the Beetle?! Like Adam said more info is needed in order to help you. Although the beetle must be drive by wire, the 032dl ecu would not of plugged in if it wasn't. M5.92 has a different harness plug. Awv>aww shouldn't have a issue. Both wideband and vvt. Op must have a narrowband early model? Does your big have vvt? If not then it's narrowband and 032cl is the file you'd want to use on the correct ecu.

Post by: _nameless on October 22, 2015, 11:00:04 AM The way I see it you can do 1 of 2 things. 1 keep the wideband ecu, code out vvt, add a wideband O2 sensor and calibrate for smaller turbo. 2 eBay a cheap 032cl/cm ecu ($50) and ha e the right ecu to control the car.

Post by: vwnut8392 on October 22, 2015, 06:17:42 PM i actually have a CL ECU thats known good but i cant find a good tunerpro XDF for it, i wanna be able to disable downstream 02, EGR, SAI pump, tank vent valve, N249 etc. i know people dont suggest you remove the N249 but i did on my car and its one less headache i have to deal with when it fails. i have my car narrowed down to 4 vacuum lines instead of the mess it used to be. the problem is when i use the i use the 1mb ECU is this fan issue even if i do convert to widband and disable VVT. its like the beetle is wired different than the golf/jetta and i've been rooting through wiring diagrams to see if i can find the difference. i checked mitchell prodemand and it shows the 2000 beetle as having a wideband 02 so right off the gun i believe their diagram is wrong.
