Title: Bosch 980cc running too rich
Post by: igo300 on November 11, 2015, 06:49:40 PM
I've just fitted a set of Bosch EV14 970cc (Part #0280 158 040) and am struggling to get them to run well -

krkte
tvub
temin
temina

have all been adjusted in the normal fashion but fuel trims are too rich

I keep winding KRKTE down (even to .0150) and still pulling 15% at idle.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

AT IDLE (and he's scaling KRKTE)

What are you using for TVUB with these? Are you sure your factors are right?

I have an RS4
Can I adjust the axis or is it used elsewhere?

I got those Injectors on RS running RS6 turbos on E85.
Why is your krtke so low???
How did you come to this value?

I'm running 98RON

Stock RS4 - flowing 480cc @ 4bar KRKTE = .067488
Bosch 970cc flow 1120cc @ 4bar - 480/1120 x .067488 = .0289

Your running 30-40% more fuel so you should be 0.0289/0.6 = 0.0482 or thereabouts

I've loaded these in and will chalk up some miles and report back.

Ahh Ok, seemed a bit low - just woke up.
Not that high but thereabout. I got my fueling perfect. I can post my TVUB after work if DDs doesnt work.

Unfortunately no luck
LTFT pulling 21% and 23%
DTC Fuel trims too rich

Same problem I had on the original TVUB numbers

Seems to me something is preventing KRKTE from going low enough.

I reset KRKTE to 0.0445 and put FKKVS to 0.65 as a workaround to get me down to the coorect volume. This works but I'd prefer to know what is stopping KRKTE from accepting 0.0289

Can you do a run and post a log? Do you have wb02? Any logs on that?

Krkte is 0.0445... This is as said E85
The rest does not matter. It is not your problem.

there is something wrong with the hardware, imo.

fpr bad? leaky injectors? bad maf? bad o2? intake leak?

I swapped the base file and ran your TVUB (as above) with
KRKTE 0.029193
TEMIN 0.2187
TEMINVA 2.18

Just driven 200km - absolutely fantastic - trims within 1%

No misfires at idle and absolutely smooth.

The Bosch spec sheet was certainly a long way out.

Thanks to Nye and Daz and an extra thanks to Mocke as your numbers are spot on.

Cheers mate.

The values I posted are right from the latency sheet I got from deatschwerks. I had two injectors done, but were identical. Interesting that yours and his were so far off.

Post by: igo300 on November 14, 2015, 02:00:44 AM
Agreed.
What was also weird is that once I swapped the map I was getting 12% rich on my numbers and 7% lean on yours. Mockes were between the two so I went with them. Had I not I'd still be looking to KRKTE to try and solve it.

In general, use krkte to adjust partial trims, tvub to adjust idle trims.

Mine injectors  came with the spec that was way off as well. Was really wrong on two cars i have seen.
Numbers i got that work  was done by trial an error.

Well, Yes, but I am saying I bought injectors, and had them tested myself. These were observed latencies, not just spec sheet numbers. That's why I find it odd.

I'm thinking compounded error, but who knows. Good work!

In general, use krkte to adjust partial trims, tvub to adjust idle trims.
The variations of -12 an +7 I mentioned were partial trims and I would normally have kept adjusting KRKTE and TEMIN, which I was doing, with no result.
In this instance TVUB was the primary problem.
