Title: Unable to connect via OBDII while car is running
Post by: groveguy89 on February 05, 2016, 12:18:36 PM
So I'm kind of stumped. Car is a 2001 6speed 2.7T A6 and I am totally unable to connect with any interface while the car is running. (Engine only) I can still connect to stuff like cluster and other control modules but not the ECU. When the car is not running it works fine? Any suggestions? TIA

which interface? which software?

I use both a genuine Ross Tech HEX-CAN USB as well as cheap dumb FTDI cable. Tried logging with both VCDS and ME7Logger, ECUx. Cables work fine with all my other cars. I'm starting to think it may be a ground issue, but I have no idea where to start looking. I was able to log intermittently by starting the log (in VCDS) and it would sort of randomly cut out? I was able to start it back up again while moving only to have it randomly cut out again with no rhyme or reason.  ??? I'm teh losts
