Title: reading file problems MED9.1 ECU
Post by: vwnut8392 on February 07, 2016, 04:04:09 PM
decided to attempt to try and read an MED9.1 ECU today out of a parts car thats a 2007 GTI 2.0 FSI that i know for a fact has APR software with map switching. im using an FGtech V54 clone to attempt to read it and i have had no luck. i've tried MPPS V13, MPPS V16, FGtech V54 over OBD and through BDM and i cannot get it to give up its secrets. so far i havnt found any boot mode info for the MPC56X processor but there is plenty of info on the tricore processor ECU's out there. i'd prefer to work with a stock ECU to start but this is what i have. by the looks of it the APR dealer never had the computer out of the car so it was flashed originally over OBD and the flash counter was reset to 0 because i could get that much info out of it. anyhow can anyone point me in the right direction into getting the data out of this thing?

Reading will work via BDM - it's not possible to block reading MPC via BDM without physically disabling (cutting track to pad etc). Are you connecting via BDM properly? What probe are you using? Can you share how you're applying the probes to the pad?

Bdm100 clone. Solder 10pin ribbon connector to ecu and read.
