Title: Cannot connect to ECU via Vagcom/nefmoto, can however connect in boot mode??
Post by: infinkc on September 12, 2011, 09:57:50 AM
Anyone know what is going on?  Bench flashing/testing.  Cannot connect with vagcom or nefmoto.  In boot mode with galleto it will read and flash a bin fine.

Any ideas?

programming sequence not done properly most likely, or incorrect checksums in the file that's in there.

Vag-Com and NefMoto both use the communication protocols to communicate with the code on the ECU. Boot mode uses the communication systems built into the ROM of the processor.

If you cannot connect with Vag-Com or NefMoto, but can connect with boot mode, then likely the ECU code in the flash memory chip is corrupt and preventing the ECU from booting properly.

thanks tony, do you know what chip location is the flash memory?

It is the 44 pin PSOP chip labelled 29F800 on the top of the circuit board.
