Title: Wideband Conversion -- possible? How?
Post by: dokalanyi on February 22, 2016, 02:09:26 AM
Hello,
I'd like to do a narrowband to wide band conversion if possible. Currently have a 4b0 906 018 BD Passat B5 Euro (APU). What do I need? I suspect I need the following:
- Wideband ECU - Any recommendations?
- Wideband O2 sensor
- A harness perhaps? Wideband O2 sensors are 5 wire?

Any help is appreciated,
Kind regards

Is there a B5 Euro with wideband? If not you have to take a wideband ecu from another 1.8t but you have to change lots of maps.

Thanks -- I thought the maps would be similar? And the harness, $80?? That seems pricey for a harness -- is the circuit itself known?

Sure it is, just check the wiring documents from vag as soon as you know which ecu you will take.

If there is no B5 Wideband ecu you will have to take another ecu form a different engine.
Some/most of the parts are others....

different injectors, not the same k03, other maf and so on...

What i would do: Check out elsa/etka if there is a B5, 3b, 3bg what else it is called with me7 wideband!

For example the Passat 3B3 AWT has a wideband ecu.

I'm not sure how different the Euro cars are from US spec but tons of the b5.5 passats here have wideband me7.5 018ch ecus.  And the huge plus to the is that there's already an 018ch def with lots of definitions already included.  Enough to daily drive my big turbo a4.
