Title: ***B7 S4 ECU not flashing (memory layout?)***
Post by: q_dubz on April 25, 2016, 08:57:56 AM
 ???

Used Ecu definition is:
[Communication]
Connect      = FAST-0x10
Communicate  = HM2-0x10
LogSpeed     = 56000

[Identification]
HWNumber           = "0261208443"
SWNumber           = "1037374043"
PartNumber         = "8E0910560K"
SWVersion          = "0010"
EngineId           = "4.2L V8/5V"

I connect with no problem utilizing kwp2000, 124800 Baud, fast init. Memory Validation fails, i ignore it and try to continue and the write fails.

I've flashed the car back to stock and attempted a new file with no luck.

I've tried all three 29F800xx mem layout options.

HALP?

it seems more like youre trying to flash a random file to a b7 s4. because b7 and the file youre trying to flash do not match.

b7 is st10 cpu. your 560k is not.

oh, got it.

I guess i should have said, its a 2005.5 B7 so a big clusterfuck of B7 and B6 parts  ;)

So back on topic... Anyone?

nefmoto won't work with an st10.

well according Mr.K0mpresd, i dont have an ST10 ecu....

You might need MPPS for this ecu, or find a crossflashable file that works with Nef.

yea i've tried to find a clean non-viral copy of MPPS without much luck. I'll search some more.
Now, what do you mean "crossflashable file"?

galletto boot mode will work.

A hw compatible file you can bootmode flash onto the ECU so you can use nefmoto flasher later to make updates.

I was just reading thru Daz's Galleto thread. I see i have to insert my VCDS cable serial for it to work. So in that case can i use NefMoto's Boot Mode?

No, Nefmoto boot mode does nothing.

well then. Alrighty.

alright edited the hex for Galetto and have my cable recognized. And now...?

I really do not want to do boot mode, grounding pin24 bs, if i dont have to.

Set your baud rate down to 38400

Nefmoto boot mode doesn't work it was never finished.

changing baud does nothing.

Slow init doesnt work.

Are you sure the file on the ECU is stock?

If so, try a different stock image that is cross flashable to that ECU.

as sure as I can be. The only way I can flash this ECU is with one of two slave box programmers I have. My genius and power gate II. Both of them hold a stock read. I've tried both. I have no means to upload to the boxes without their masters.

I don't know of any crossflashable files unfortunately.

Then it is likely nefmoto flasher does not support that ecu.

so what protocol are these two flash boxes using then??

Bringing this back to brainstorm some more with folks.

Any ideas?

Depends on the ECU. 8e0 will work 8e2 will not work and you need to bootmode flash it.

Well as per the very first post in this thread, this is a 8E0 ecu...which aint working lol.

Do you still have this problem? The first screen shot shows the 29f800 memory module selected. the 8e0 is a BT

And you cant do full write, i mean you can... but then you have to diff write again after to get the ECU to close correctly.

I normally flash with bootmode and the ECU open, but i have flashed a few 8e0 ECU's. PM me the BIN if your still having issues.

Yessir, still a problem. I'm sorry I'm not clear on the writing techniques. I thought I read somewhere "diff write" did nothing.

Like we talked about i only have experience reflashing these platforms with nefmoto on - Blue VAG Silver Cable / Tactrix 1.3u cable (which works better btw). The rosstech that sets up a USB port so its recognized i do not have... i have the HEX CAN2 which sets up its own interface port.

Could be that. im not positive.

Diff write works much better on these cars though (b6/b7 - S4). at least the 8e0. It wont connect to my 8e2 ECU (out of the car).
