Title: VR6 Turbo timing
Post by: vwmaniac on June 09, 2017, 09:07:37 AM
ive been working on getting my vr6 turbo dialed in. looking at my logs i think its pulling timing but im not entirely sure. timing is not following my kfzw so im thiniking there is some intervention happening. What other variables should i log to figure this out? im going to lower the boost from 15psi to waste which is 10psi. motor is stock with head spacer, i have 630cc injectors at 3bar, hpx-e blow thru maf and a holset hx35.(http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo7/vwmaniac16vr6/actualtimingpull_1.jpg) (http://s356.photobucket.com/user/vwmaniac16vr6/media/actualtimingpull_1.jpg.html) (http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo7/vwmaniac16vr6/timing%20map_2.jpg) (http://s356.photobucket.com/user/vwmaniac16vr6/media/timing%20map_2.jpg.html)

You're missing just about every relevant variable there is.

Here is what i log (semicolons are the things i dont)

thank you nyet, will my ecu support logging that many variables at once? i remember having an issue with my 1.8t notbeing able to. thank you

Then you'll have to do some research to know which ones aren't timing related....

by research you mean look at the funktionsrahmen for the relevant timing variables.

Let's put it this way: you'll have to learn that anyway. There are no shortcuts.

Hell, the important ones are in English for you already in the ME7L defs/aliases file.

located the source of knock... i believe this stems from an overboost (28psi) on some initial test runs. EVERY rod bearing has spun believe it or not the log above was made on this motor just a few miles before i dropped the pan, took the car out to get lunch and heard some tapping in the mid range and was puzzled as it was quiet at idle and under load. i drained the oil and saw signs of trouble.(http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo7/vwmaniac16vr6/drainplug.jpg) (http://s356.photobucket.com/user/vwmaniac16vr6/media/drainplug.jpg.html) (http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo7/vwmaniac16vr6/bottomend.jpg) (http://s356.photobucket.com/user/vwmaniac16vr6/media/bottomend.jpg.html)

Might it be, that you located the outcome of the knocking. Are rods still straight?
