Title: Seat leon 1M twin sidemount coversion
Post by: KasperH on June 18, 2017, 02:53:04 AM
Anybody here ever tried to do a twin sidemount conversion on a Seat Leon 1M Top sport/FR?

I already got the S3/LCR intake and turbo->intercooler hard pipe,
and have ordered the intercooler with pipes and hoses.

Would mount the Wagner FMIC from S3 8L into my 1M if i had one.

Very good cooler for the money.

Have been looking at that a lot too, it's just 5x the price of a set of twin side mount :)
And almost everything is better than a single sidemount  :P

And I also have to think about TÜV approval, or I can't legally install it  ;)

Why not try an Seat Ibiza Cupra 6L FMIC, it is TÜV approved too  ;) ;) ;)

Have played with the idea, but have been told it wouldn't fit :)
It's TÜV for the Ibiza, not the Leon ;)

I have been scouring the net for somebody that had done this, but could only find thumbnails and people that said they did it, but never an explanation or proper pictures :)

Did you need to trim the bumper to make it fit?
And what about piping?

No bumper triming at all
I run it with fogs allso.
You allso need custom made piping.

care to share what is needed for that custom piping?
is one of those universal piping kits enough? :)

its not a universal piping kit.
I'm a tig welder so I made it myself from scratch

I'm an old welder, so that was my plan too.
What I meant was if the needed bends and piping would be in something like this:

Just fit a pd150 intercooler and adapt the hoses to fit

I used 304l ss pip, something like 1.5 meter and six off 90 degree pipe

Already have the twin sidemount waiting for me to install them, so I don't want to spend any more on intercoolers this month :)

Noted for when I get bored of the twin sidemount  :P
