Title: Keep Getting Checksum error P0601
Post by: dilly on August 12, 2017, 02:35:57 PM
hi everyone i have recently gotten a tuned ecu for me7.5 1.8t. it's a 2004 jetta gli awp
it is an open bin file so i can read it and write it no problem and hand it out if i really want to.
so no matter what ecu i flash it to i end up getting a P0601
i use nefmoto to flash over obd and i have also tried bootmode but the code comes back randomly and doesn't let me start my car
a quick fix just to get me home is to use vag k commander 2.5 to flash my stock immo file back on my ecu.
and sometimes even right after i do that if i try and restart the engine, it wont start again.
my ecu that came in the car is a 06A906032SM and the tuned ecu file i bought is a 06A906032LP
if someone is willing to help and properly checkover the checksums i will pm you the files. Flash bin and immo bins

thanks and i am looking forward for the help and giving back

Have you read all the threads using the search term "p0601" on this forum?

Yeah most of the things I try do not work the error keeps appearing no matter what I try unless there is some secret or a way to delete the code from the flash

I have tried boot mode to flash eeprom
Still comes back
I have flashed via nefmoto and it still comes back
I'm just looking for some help and I will send the flash to someone who knows about the checksums just to make sure they are correct or to check to see if the flash is bad
(Just ask me for it)

I haven't gotten any errors while flashing such as incomplete or connection errors if that helps

Please post the output of me7sum
here you go
what doesn't make sense to me is that when i pull the eeprom file via bootmode it says the death code is not set but when i read it via obd with vagkcommander it shows the deathcode in the eeprom
and the checksum seems fine to me.
could it possibly be that since my car came with a SM ecu and it is 6 speed but now i am putting a LP file in it?
im not so sure... just making theories

Did you use the lc/nls patch?

1) that isn't me7sum
2) you can copy/paste the output of a cmd program directly using right-click mark

the tune came with lc and nls

I am willing to bet your tune is doing this because this patch.  032PL will have an issue if your tuner just ran the patch script against the binary without other modifications.

its a decent tune imo..the car rips when it runs right compared to my old one and two step and nls work just fine
he claimed it is his own lc/nls maps and the tune runs butter smooth cause he has somewhat perfected it over the years . he told me that out of the hundreds of tunes he has sold i am the only person with this problem.
our initial thought was a bad ecu but i flashed to my spare ecu and the problem still occurs.
target boost is 20ish psi and drops to about 15 towards redline
i have nothing against him at all he was very cooperative with me and so was i with him
we stayed up for hours and he helped me through making a bench harness and using bootmode. i can probably do it in my sleep now

i also keep getting this error saying connection charger throttle valve pressure drop or something like that and it limits me to 5psi if that helps you out any

Silly question perhaps but why don't you fix the eeprom with a hex editor to remove the P0601 code. Bootmode the ecu flash the newly fixed eeprom file the the 95040 and then also flash a new stock file on to the ecu and see if it runs?

I'm guessing something in the LC code is screwing up the checksum process. Many have seen this before; it touches RAM that isn't actually unused.

It shows the bits that are changed in the eeprom when you have the P0601 error.

Read your eeprom, correct this and then flash it back in bootmode. There will likely be something up with your file due to the LC/NLS.

That's why I said to just flash it back to stock again and get the car working if you need it.

just used the visualme7logger and eeprom tool to fix the death code and fix checksums, immo off blah blah you guys know the rest and removed the p0601 dtc from my bin and the car fired right up and fucking rips now

i will keep this updated because who knows it could come back at any time. please don't mark as solved
thank you all for your imputs and i will get back soon

let me know on here if you wanna check over the tune

just don't email me please pm me thank you

Removing it from the bin is a bit of a hack really. Ideally you just want the file to be right and not cause you a checksum error lol  :P

Yes, it is possible it will eventually return.

Your "tuner" did not write the LC code. He just ran the script, which does random things to the ECU bin.

Okay so if I were to send somebody my bin would they be able to remove the script and code in a good lc/nls?
Or is it not possible cause I like having it

And idk if he's a real tuner or not
Do any of you know where the script installs the coding on the file? Cause I can search for the code

Okay well the problem still exists
Is there anybody that can remove the lc/nls script?
because i really enjoy this tune unless someone has a good like 20psi tune they would like sharing with no checksum errors

guidance: flash to stock. read the stage1 community file thread. Learn ME7. Write your own tune.

Or ask your tuner to remove the LC code.

Use tunerpro then. It's free or make a payment for registration which is 39 US dollars. There's plenty of XDF files floating around on here and I'm sure someone will have an original file for your car. Do what Nyet said and make your own tune.

It does seem a bit weird that your tuner hasn't been able to assist since from what you've said this problem is caused by his file.

what gets me is that he basically told me to go fuck myself because his tunes are plug and play since the ecu came with immo off.. since i like changing adaptation values such as idle speed and such which to me shouldn't even affect a tune file...he blamed me changing adaptation for the error so i stopped messing with shit with adaptation and the problem happened again. he then thinks it is my cluster blah blah but now it all makes sense since you guys know more about the lc/nls script.
i suppose i will load up a stock 032LP file from the database since i haven't really searched for a 032SM file yet (which is what my spare ecu is) and see if the problem still persists

i will go into more research for making my own file but honestly if somebody has a nice file for an AWP with basically stock everything except for supporting mods of course i am willing to throw some money for the file or if someone can actually correct my already existing file and remove the shitty lc/nls code from it i also am glad to pay for that

i am just sick of this recurring problem that is causing me to use my laptop to start my car every single time i turn the key

It disables a jump to RSA code and I think it's reporting extra checksums to correct because of that change.

it's not technically throttle position, it's driver's torque request % (mrfa), so putting a block under the accelerator won't really work.... but it'd sure be funny.

i am currently running the file that marty corrected and posted and car runs fine and starts up good
recently got a cel for knock sensor #2 so i will be replacing that tomorrow because the car started running funny. i have always had an intermittent code for that sensor and hopefully it will run better after

as for marty's file i shouldn't have the no start error anymore( correct me if i am wrong please)

i will keep this updated as time goes on (few days)
thank you all for your great help, i cant be anymore thankful

Hopefully that is with the hacked out RSA checking, or LC that doesn't write to random RAM.

as of today when i flashed the new corrected file with corrected lamfa around the time it was posted. i drove all about 60ish miles today.. usually when i drove longer distances rather then just around town it would have the no start issue but that was not the case. car starts and runs better. couldn't really tell how much better it pulled since i had 2 people with me and all together the three of us probably weigh close to 700lbs
third passenger was heavy set.
but seemed smoother by the way it drove

will keep updated to let you know how this goes
