Title: Golf 4 DSG conversion cluster eeprom coding for FWD and DSG VWK503MH Mfa Only
Post by: tonybig78 on July 15, 2018, 11:04:54 AM
Hi its been a long time since ive had time to continue with my Golf 4 1.8T DSG conversion but im back with some good news for those looking to achieve the same!

Ok so lets get on with it.....

Managed to get my hands on various clocks from a great friend and ive been fiddling with the eeprom values to get my clocks or actually any VWK503MH MFA clocks to work with DSG transmission and or without AWD.

There are a few different part numbers for these but im sure it will work on any half screen VWK503MH. Ive tried it on a set of diesel clocks.

Now before you say but cant i do that in VCDS? the answer is no! on these older platforms there is no long coding or installation list to do so!

So heres how to do it. Once you have a dump of your VWK503MH clocks you need to edit it with the follwing values at the address 1B6.

Address :1B6 orginal value in my clocks was 15

If you plan to do a AWD conversion the you need to change value 1 to 9 to see the AWD module in the CAN Gateway if not leave 1 for FWD
To change from manual to DSG then change 5 to 7

This should help the cluster communicate with the TCU and ME7.5

I will attach 2 dumps before and after if you wish to compare or just download.

Once I manage to find some full fis manual transmission clocks I will try to figure it out on them too.

Dont forget to say thanks if this helped you in any way!

So you have a working speedometer with dsg conversion?
Signal is coming form can or kline form the dsg?

No, via can!

0x065 from 80 to  81 = speedsignal via CAN rather than from the old manual transmission speed sensor (which the DSG does not have)

2 things, 1 I really want to use this, 2 i need to figure a way for my tt to get speed signal from abs...

the o2q still has the trigger wheel on the crank, you could always drill a hole in the case and fit the o2m sensor. i did this before in the past before i knew how to flip bits

Noooo the speed sensor is broke in transmisson and i have been to lazy to remove/afraid i will have to pull the trans.

hello
can you please tell what is the file of engine ecu you have used for this to work?

I got an AWD dsg that I’m looking forward to fit in my mk4 with 1.8t 225 awd .. aside from the cluster thing i want to know about the dsg wiring in mk4s! Sure with Me7 ecu .. did you post any reference to this info plz?

i think dsg wiring is to dsg selector
comunication with dashboard and with me7 ecu is over can only

CAN speed signal comes from ABS. DSG does not send it, only uses it.

So DSG will understand the Mk4 ‘s ABS ?

Will the dsg understand the signal from me7 ecu with k-line ? What else would be a pain in this project?

K-line is generally not used for control unit to control unit communication. So CAN-bus is the way to go.

So DSG will understand the Mk4 ‘s ABS ?
It should yes, i cannot say for sure about ALL DSG's.
ABS should send CAN id 0x4A0 (Bremse_3) which contains wheel speed information.

One thing that comes to  mind, is speed signal differences.
For example, if you have much different size of wheels (compared to wheels in car that gearbox comes from), DSG will not be happy about it because it measures speed of all the axles in it. If CAN reported speed differs too much, there might be odd behaviour.
On the other hand, if you do not send speed information to DSG at all, it still works suprisingly well.
This is the case in my car, '86 Scirocco in which i have installed a DSG7 from Golf 6.

Hey guys,

Im just someone who is passing by. I'm also interested to make a DSG swap with my Audi a3 8l. Im not really sure what I need to do first. I was interested to buy a DSG DQ250. I also found a loom on the internet for like 1200 euro's http://www.pparts.net/nl/dp-dsg-controller-audi-seat-skoda-vw-18-20vt-engines.

My car has like 340 hp and 370nm. The gearbox sucks. Im ready to invest in my car.
Could you please tell the steps or do you have another forum where you started this conversion?

Yours sincerly,

Any update on this? I already mounted one on my big turbo Jetta with the 032HF ecu, i still have 2 codes for comunication on vcds but maybe can turn the csr on next week and see how it works

Great first post right after registration

Read the cluster eeprom like it is described in google. 5sec search  ::)

Bumping this to the top. I have the following in the works and wanted to see if anyone has made any progress with this

Car in question: 2005 Beetle 1.8t auto

Swap in progress: 2.8 BDF 24V swap (manual currently)

Would like to use an Eos 3.2 DSG in the vehicle, I've put DSG into various b6 passats with good success with no flashing or coding needed. My original thought was to ad a tone wheel and speed sensor on one of the drive axle flanges and wire the dsg into the can to see if it would work but after coming across this thread i'm curious if the original auto cluster is already reading speed form the ABS?

Please let me know if anyone has any info on this, I haven't started the swap yet and would like to plan it out as best as possible

If the original gearbox has a drive speed sensor, then it's most likely used by cluster.
