Title: Trying to get contact with me7.1.1
Post by: hummel on July 16, 2018, 07:26:08 AM
Hi Guys,

I have a R32 engine where i would like the immo off. But i cannot connect with ArgDub's software, see attached screenshot.

I tried with NefMoto program and got following..

I don't know if the chip is 95040 or not?
I don't know if the memory layout is 512 or 1024, i've looked inside the ECU but couldn't se anything.

Can anyone tell me where to look and what to do ?

Any help would be very nice..

so you've looked inside the ECU but don't know what memory is in it... sounds promising...

Yes i know  ??? I searched around in here and google, but couldn't find anything usefull. On the immo eeprom it says 95160. Anything else I should look for?

But shouldn't ArcDub's program work anyway?

::) 2048kb memory. Sorry bout that...

Is it normal I can connect with NefMoto ME7 Flasher and not with the cmd software?

::) 2048kb memory. Sorry bout that...

uh what

Also, the EEPROM is not the flash.

Post by: hummel on July 16, 2018, 11:50:09 AM
Okay, im really lost here. I Believe that this Me7.1.1 isn't as the 1.8T's. I opened the ECU and looked at the EEPROM (on the bottom side right?) on that one it says 95160. If I use ArcDub's program in cmd and try to connect via bootmode and then choose memorysize 95160 it will tell me the 2048kb. But this has noting to do with the memory size in NefMoto software, right? Then where do I see the right memory size??

could it be that it is not possible to connect to my ECU with Nefmoto ??

Title: How to connect to Me7.1.1 type 1 ?
Post by: hummel on July 16, 2018, 12:39:10 PM
I tried to connect via k-line to my Me7.1.1 type 1 ECU to removed the immo, but I could not read the flash via Nefmoto.

Is it possible to read/write to the flash via k-line obd on a Me7.1.1 type 1?

What program should i use? what cable?

Thanks

Nefmoto flasher flashes the flash not the eeprom.

There is litereally no ME7 eeprom (or flash) that is 2048kb so i have no idea what you think that is

Please don't start new threads, especially in the wrong forum.

One more time: the nefmoto flasher is for the flash, not the eeprom.

Nyet: Well, in commado prompt it saty the memory layout for the 95160 is 2048kb, thats why I thought that was what you where asking about.

Should i be able to Read the flash with the NefMoto, yes or No ? Because i can't, and thought that was because of Immo, but maybe i'm wrong?

And should I be able to connect with the ArcDub's program via OBD ? Yes or No ? Seems like their is alot of different opinions on this ECU type.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ? I'm a little stuck here  :-\ Maybe someone could tell me what tools I need to begin with ?

I thought i could use my KKL Cable together with ArcDub's EEPROM program, and the NefMoto for the Flash, but maybe i'm wrong?

Probably is not a proper ft232rl cable.

Your commands in the first screenshot don't match the examples.

Copy the first example command, just change the port number which your cable is using. This can be found in Device Manager.

Thank you, but that didn't help.

I order a confirmed working KKL cable from Ebay, still wainting for it. It the meantime I'm still trying with the one I have, I'm pretty sure it should work.

One think I have problems with is the D2XX driver, when I plug in the cable Windows automatically installs a prefered driver, when I try to change to the D2XX Windows says It already have installed the best driver.

Could this cause my problem? If, then what can I do about it?

You can tell windows to install whatever driver you want with a manual install

Always seemed to play up a bit when I tried them, even playing with the drivers, something like this might be better for you, cheap enough and with CS buttons may help dep on what you're editing with;

MARTY: Thank you, but I'm living in Europe (Denmark), other thanthat I will really like to learn to do this myself...

Latest update, I got a Ross-Tech VCDS cable and software, with that I was able to get contact to the ECu, meaning my wiring and ECU is all good.

Now I'm trying to use ArcDubs program with cmd and the Rosstech cable, but still no succes... It keeps saying com-port not specified, and I can't se the specific com-port in device manager...

Title: Re: Trying to get contact with me7.1.1

Well, I managed to download a vcp driver from Rosstech http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/usb/virtual-com-port.php and attached it to com port 2.

But I still have problem with connecting via ArcDubs program in cmd.  ???

Could the vcp driver be wrong ?

Or is there anything i'm doing wrong in cmd ? Open cmd, drag ME7EEPROM in cmd, write the path to ME7EEPROM and write --OBD -r -p 2 95040.bin ?

attached a screen shot for better understanding

umm if youre trying to use a vcds cable like your other post says then it will never work. nefmoto is the only other software that will work with a vcds cable
 eeprom tool wont work

Title: Re: Trying to get contact with me7.1.1

it will work with their VCP driver, IIRC.   But, just buy the $20 ebay ftdi cable.

Title: Re: Trying to get contact with me7.1.1
Post by: hummel on August 08, 2018, 07:16:01 AM
I already order a cheap Ebay KKL cable, approved from the users in this forum.. But i fear it would be the same, since I already tried the VCDS cable (With vcp driver) and another cheap KKL blue cable..

But maybe it is just the cable  :-\ It would be nice...

There is alot of ways to figure this out, if you open the cable and look at the chip is one.
You could download the ftdi eeprom programmer and confirm the cable that way, do not use on ross tech genuine.
If you want email me and I can try to help, I've done alot of r32 ecus.

Thank you Carsinc. I tried to open my blue KKL cable, and on the chip it says FT232RL ? Is that what i'm looking for ? If my cable is good enough, then I still have a problem with Arcdub's program  :-\

Windows will only use the driver that it self finds and install, maybe that could be the problem ?

I don't think your ecu is 95040 to start

It should be a 95P05 its fine the latest ver of the tool will do it.

IF you just really wanna do this yourself, message me i'll guide you through it.
if you just want it done ship it to me i'll do it.

Hey Guys,

Still struggling with this. I got a new KKL Cable from Ebay, once i plugged it in, Windows automatically installed the preferred driver, is that ok?

I tried the cable with Nefmoto, and succesfully read the ECU, confirming that my wiring is ok, right?

Then I opened Device manager and assigned port 2 to the cable.

Then I opened cmd and dragged the newest version of me7eeprom in and wrote --OBD -r -p2 myr32.bin and still no communication.

Anyone has any idea what i'm doing wrong ?

When I tried reading via obd using argdubs me7_95040.exe it doesn't work. Try Boot mode, works like a charm everytime. You can use the blue ebay cable aswell for bootmode when using only me7_95040.exe or me7eeprom.exe. My ecu is me7.5. Your situation might be different.

I try to help people with this issue often sadly i almost always have them send me the ecu.

I Refuse to send the ECU out... yet :)

I looked through that thread you linked, and before I do any soldering on the board I would like to be totally sure that we have the same type. Mine is a bit different from the ones in the thread. They mention a red bridge on the backside that needs to be desoldered, is that the case on mine as well ? If Yes, which one?

I found a picture of a 1 kOhm bridge to mount. that board looks like mine, so I expect thats the one to go for, but a conformation would be nice.

thanks.

The 2 first pictures is my ECU, and the last one is the one I expect to followed?

A little update, I tried to mount the resistor and ground the boot pin for 2 sec. and then read with ME7EEPROM and got to IDCHIP not supported. after 30 sec i tried again and then its like it left bootmode. Power off and ground on boot pin 2 sec, and I can do the same...  ???

Shouldn't it supposed to stay in boot mode when it is in it ?

Carsinc, It sounds really good with a little walk through. And Yes it is a mk5 R32

So here the deal. Turns out the ME7EEPROM program cannot connect to my ECU. Next up will be to try with the VAG Commander and see if thats possible.

Title: Re: Trying to get contact with me7.1.1
Post by: hummel on September 27, 2018, 03:25:15 AM
Update:

Vag commander 3.6 could not connect. But 2.5 could  :o

I managed to read the EEPROM, at least I though i did, but then i notice it was only 200 bytes  :-\ I've attached a picture of the read out in Vag commander. Anyone have any idea to what to do ?

I need to delete the immo....

Shouldn't it supposed to stay in boot mode when it is in it ?

You are mixing up "booted" with "boot mode". It's in "boot mode" only before the host (in your case the PC EEPROM reading program) starts communicating with it, then it's just "booted" and cannot go into "boot mode" again without a power reset.

Thank you for explaining that woj.

It seems like my only option is to desolder the eeprom and read it, either in another ECU, or buy a burner ? I think thats a bit to much since i'm only planning to do this one ECU.  :-\

Anybody located in Europe and up for a little task? :)

Your ecu is an ST10 so protocols/cs etc are different to the earlier ME7.1.1. C167 ones which can work with the cheap/free software. There's quite a few changes which is why we're saying try things like late MPPS or Galletto, for what clones cost, plus with the dual checksums in flash and other areas with the ST10's and the fact the newer ones come with checksum buttons, then it's probably much better to try something like an MPPS V18 clone or the like for what they cost as you may end up bricking it if not!

There are also immo areas in the flash, attached a calibration bin and screenshot of the immo aspects within it if it helps you track them down in your ecu to start with? Easier to start with a half decent tool though!

Success! The Immo is finally OFF!

I couldn't wait for my MPPS to arrive, so I got the EEPROM desoldered and found a nice local dealer who had a programmer, he could easily do a IMMO Off.

Thank for the guidance to every one in here..
