Title: hello 2002 bug runs only in limp mode
Post by: ccadmansaag@yahoo.com on February 26, 2019, 10:05:07 AM
attempting to get a 2002 bug on the road. 2.2 5 sp had exhaust ripped off from cat back a shredded the oil pan. pan is replaced and i have "for testing purposes" replaced the cat with a straight pipe and welded in a fitting to hold the post cat o2 sensor. the old sensor was ripped completely off leaving wires  dangling. the thing starts and runs in limp mode. bought a cable on ebay and attempting the software setup.

There is no VAG 2.2.  What motor are you talking about?  Likely lambda loom shorted, ECU needs replaced or repaired.

what makes you think ecu calibration is the proper fix for hardware failure? small hint: any vag engine will run and drive without any lambda sensors plugged in at all.
