Title: High idle for faster warmup
Post by: mushtafa on December 05, 2019, 01:18:04 PM
Had a thought, not sure how it's best approached though;

On cold mornings, it would be nice to have the idle sit at 2k for example to help the car warm up and defrost quicker, but as soon as the throttle is touched it'll return to it's normal idle speed.

I assume this would require custom code? Any thoughts? ME7.5

It already does from 1.3k to 800~.

I want it higher to warm the car quicker, but 2k rpm idle would be a pain to drive with. I'd wan't it to revert back to the usual cold start idle map once the car is driven

Install a pre-heater instead of raping the engine.
Idling the engine to warm it up absolutely wrecks piston rings and causes oil consumption.
It's supposed to be driven lightly. That way it warms up faster and spends less time working cold -> less fuel consumption, less engine wear.
